Default GT brake help

I have a RTR GT and the brakes are just crap. What are you racers doing to improve brake performance at the track? So far I have ordered a stronger servo the RTR servo is rated at 42 oz. And I have ordered a new brake disc. I have even bent my brake linkage to give me more leverage this helped a little. I wonder what the Team drivers are running in there GT's? Thanks for any help.

You shouldn't have to bend the linkage... There are nuts on the linkage that can be screwed in and out to adjust the braking. Take a look at this also http://www.rc10gthobby.com/cr_brake.htm

I have adjusted those nuts and have used fuel tubing instead of the spring. Are the team drivers using that drum brake setup?

no, us racers use stock, i tried the cr system, its ok but not as good as disk, go with the stock ft gt disk and a better servo, say 100 + oz/in.

I have called AE and have asked about it and they said we have never heard of it. and I can not find it on the AE website. Is there a part number?

Is there a difference between the RTR disc and the FT disc? My manual says they are the same part number.

Its only a rear brake but it should work enough to slow the truck down. Mine works fine and pros use the same you must have problems with adjustment. I also use the stock servo and have no problems, check your battery pack sounds like your not getting power.

I cant lock them up. The disc does have 3 gallons on it is it time to change it? I am using a 1400 nimh hump pack. I bet that the weak as$ servo is the issue

Hi

You must not have had the CR Brake set properly, because the one that is on mine works allot better then the AE disk, and that is with a stock Futaba servo. It works so good that I can lock up the rear tires, something I could never get the disk to do.

you dotn want lock ups, you want control, and the disk is better for it, i have tested the cr brake a lot, and even made my own straps etc and its just not as good. i use a better servo than you though.

I don't have any problem with the stock disk and stock servo. I am able to adjust them to lock on pavement if needed. Normally I don't have it like that, and I don't have any issue with controlabillity(<word?).
I think a better servo will cure your problem, tho.

The stock GT brake can be set good enough to skid the tires, but it will fade fast. I used the AE Carbon Fiber disc and it lasted a lot longer and didn't fade as fast but none the less, it still faded. I'm running a Hitec 925 for throttle and it has plenty of torque to pull on the brakes.

You do need the [link=http://rc10gthobby.com/cr_brake.htm]Crescenzi Brake kit.[/link] It works too good!! You can always dial it out if it locks up to easy for you. It's easier to dial it out then to dial in something that isn't there.
