Default Replacing Motor

I am new to nitro power cars/trucks. I have a Stadium Truck that I would like to replace the motor on. I am confused about what motor to buy to get my current clutch setup to work. What if I buy a motor that the current cutch will not work. How can I tell what cutch setup will work? Are there any standards as to the output shafts on nitro motrs. Please give me any insight possible.

Rob

it'd be easier for us to help you if we knew what kind of truck you had.

As far as how an engine bolts up most if not all small blocks are the same. About the only thing you have to pay attention to is the crankshaft. I think the ST15 takes a standard crankshaft. Now some questions for you, how much money are you willing to spend, are you wanting to go bigger engine or stay the same size, are you looking for more power and how much can the truck stand.

More then likely you get the engine with the right crankshaft your clutch and flywheel stuff should work.

I am willing to spend $100 to $150 on a new motor. I am looking for a little more power. You mentioned that the ST15 use a standard crankshaft, how many different crankshafts are there?

Well as far as I know there are 3, standard, short and pilot. A very good engine is a OS 18 CV-R or RX has more power then you will ever need very user friendly.

The Stock Motor uses a Standard shaft. Now if you happen to find a motor for cheap that has a pilot shaft you can use it you just need to find a clutch bell, clutch pads and new flywheel for it. OR you can jsut cut off the pilot shaft part and use your standard flywheel nut with the clutch bell shaft on it from the st-15.

O.S. engines are great, i'll be getting a .18 TZ for my Nitro Sport soon. I had one question, will the stock engine mount work with the O.S.?
