Nobody bought my firestorm. =(
5 mins to go. =(
EDIT: Now it's here, on RCU for a bit to see if anyones interested. Then I'll desperately dis-assemble it to pieces and sell it by parts. =D

Try the savage 3-shoe. Its a great clutch, I run it on all my G3's and love it.
I have my storm fixed.

Is the 3-shoe flywheel from the Savage fitting correctly on the G3.0 engine ? I mean, do I have to use some extra washers or something for it to align properly ?
Because it looks thinner than the stock flywheel on the storm.
Cheers

FS = FireStorm. The flywheel is 1mm larger than the stock one but it still fits. I removed a piece of plastic that holds the wire on the transmission as well. If you are new to RC I recommend you going through the thread, its worthwhile. You will see some of the same things come up again and again, which are parts of the truck to focus on like servo replacement, tightening the servo saver nut and loctiting it.

Why did you remove that piece of plastic ?
It doesn't get in the way of anything and it just holds the battery cable in place.
The servo saver I already fixed and the clutch was next on my list because it's not very reliable.
This car will shape up nicely after a few upgrades... It's very good value for money.

The flywheel just touched that little piece so I cut it off. It doesn't effect anything, the wire is a little less secure but it doesn't come close to rubbing on anything if you move it over a little.

If I change the tires to Phlatlines or Roadrage... do I have to change the camber on the rear? I noticed with my current worn out tires the inner of the tire is worn really bad. Cheers.

I have changed my tires with the V-Groove ones from HPI. I didn't have time to test it properly but I managed to run a tank and I can say I have plenty of wheelspin.
I have adjusted the camber to get more tire on the ground but haven't tested it yet.
You could give it a try yourself and see how it goes but I for one, really really need more grip from the tires and I'll also work with the suspension settings.

I set the camber on my truck to increase the contact patch and wear the tires more evenly and it runs well. I do this for the road rage and gladiator tires.

I gave the car a closer inspection and I saw that in theory the savage flywheel will be closer to the engine. This means that the clutchbell will also be closer to the engine and this way the spur gear which runs now at the center of the clutchbell gears will run more on the edge of the clutchbell.
Will this be an inconvenience ?

Mine doesn't, its in the centre. The position of the flywheel also depends on the length of the collet and with the brass savage collet that is a little longer it fits the same. The FS collet that came off was a little shorter.

I have a set of those v-groove m-compound tires too and it dont matter what you do you will never get any traction I dont know how well the pro compound ones hook up but the pro line speed hawgs or road rage work really good as long as you dont go over 65 or lock up the brakes. If you want a set of tires just for the street i would go with these from rc boca: R Prism CF Lo Profile Tire,Pink(2):Jato. They are only $22 for a set. You will need to modify or buy a new set of 12mm hex's

This could be true about the single needle theory. This would explain the odd location for the what could be low speed needle.

Agreed the lsn is a pain to reach but the idle and hsn are easy, which once the lsn is right are the only ones I have had to mess with....

Turns out I had just run out of nitro thats all. Filled it back up and went about my business again. I do love my firestorm, its a solid truck that is easy to start, easy to tune, easy to take apart, and just plain fun to drive.

Wait wait wait. It is a two needle carb? As in there's a HSN, LSN, and idle screw. As opposed to just HSN and idle

Once you Set the LSN and Idle Screw, never touch them again.

There is a high speed needle and low speed needle. The idle screw is not really a needle. Did the barrel of your carburetor come out because the idle screw was too loose? Its what holds it in place.

I have been running RCs since 1998 on and off. But I finally have a house and some land and the space need to be into this. I need to clean out my garage so I am not taking apart all my Nitros on my kitchen table!!! My wife lets me do it, but I would feel better if I was doing it in the garage. And I am sure she would be happier if I did that as well.
