OK. I got a big problem. When I start my car up it will idle fine until I pull the throttle, a couple seconds after I pull the throttle it revs up wildly and wont stop until I pinch the fuel line. After it calms back down I try to pull the throttle again and the same thing happens! I have checked the carb and it returns to the idle position after I let off the throttle. What is going on?

wait.. so u pull the throttel and it automaticaly goes to WOT...?... then it wont return to idal.. even though the carb is closed back to idel settings?
if thats the case.... idk.. thats weird as sh*t

That happened to me before, I had a air leak in the front bearing and the settings were off, not saying you have an air leak but its a possibility

if its a rotary carb its possible that the arm loosened that controls the carburator and you need to tighten the nut that holds it on. that happened to me once

wide open, all the lock nuts are tightened

Have you verified that the barrel is closing in relationship to the linkage arm?
If the servo closes the barrel and it still revs out of control...Then the only thing I can think of is a HUGE air leak. Check the block for cracks around the mounting flanges. Make sure the backplate is tight. make sure the head is tight...

ok... take off ur air filter... pull the throttel then... release the throttel .. make sure that the barrel in the carb closes to about a 1 mm opening...
if the carb does come back to idel ... then u have one of the biggest air leaks of all time

I think CA$hmoney got it right. I found what could have been a problem. AN EXTREMELY RICH ENGINE!!!! The factory mixture settings are 3/4 to 1 1/4 turns out, the needle was at 3 1/2 TURNS OUT!! Could this be the problem?

idk.. if the engin would run if it was that rich...???
i know any engin i have own would not have...
just test it out and find out.. then get back to us

Well, now I can't even get my car started, I think the glow starter was bad but I'm not sure. Does anyone know the settings you use on your DuraTrax TORQ motor? That way I can at least ballpark it.

OK now I'm P!$$ed off I started it up and this time it doesn't go WOT if I pull the throttle, now it goes WOT when I hit the brakes!!!!! So is this the massive air leak or is it tuning? It also revs up wildly when I do the pinch test.

Did you reverse your servo or something? When you pull on the trigger does the carb open? When you squeeze it does it close and engage the brake? What vehicle do you have?

Yes, everything moves in the right direction. The carb is a little too open at idle but other than that everything is perfect. It is the Duratrax Maximum ST (not the PRO)

Ah! I had that...it was THE biggest POS I had ever owned. Check for radio glitches if it is stock. I had SO many problems with it, although I was only like 13 years old when I got it. It was my second nitro. According to the manual the engine should be 3/4 - 1 1/4 turns out from closed after broken in. If you no longer have the manual this should help. http://www.duratrax.com/pdf/dtxc0055-manual.pdf

I used the stock settings but It never ran right. It would rev up and not go anywhere like the slipper was slipping or dif was but they werent. When the engine was off the servos worked correctly but as soon as the engine fired up the servos would spaz out especially if you were over 5 feet away from the truck.

step 1: set the car back to factory settings....
step 2: make sure all batteries are fresh....
step 3: make sure all servos work fine and right
step 4: start the car up with the air filter off.... then let it idel for a while (if it wont... then open up the carb a lil)
step 5: hold the car off the ground... and pull the throttel just a little (maybe 1/4 or 1/2)
step 6: if the car goes to WOT the look at the carb... if the carb is still closed to idel setting then ur fuked...
get back to me or PM me and ill try to help u as much as i can...

I set back to factory settings and now i think it is too lean. (I actually opend it up a half turn more then the actual settings) Unless I pinch the fuel line it goes WOT and wont calm back down.
