Hi, i am new to this site. I have a Duratrax Maximum ST. I recently purchased an OS .18 CV_RX (S) w/ 11j Rotary Carb. My friend told me that this will not fir into my truck... and that i need a new crankshaft. I just got it in the mail from towerhobbies and already opened it. IS THERE any way to make this fir in my car instead of buying a new crankshaft or sending it back?

Yes, you can make it work if its the first one (PT# OSM11880) but you gotta cut some of the crank end off. I did it to a hobby pro .18cx for my Kyosho spider drifter. I cant see the second (PT# OSM11860) engines crank well enough to tell if it has the 2 flat spots for the flywheel to lock on... The crank output lenght is correct. For that one you can grind the 2 flat spots yourself, providing you do it nice and gently and take your time. If you go too far or mess it up the clutch and flywheel will come loose a lot and then probibly ruin the flywheel... Then you would need a crank, lol.
Modifying the OSM11880 (first engine link) to fit the Duratrax Maximum ST:
First, Look at your old TORK crank and compair it to the new OS crank (you dont need to dissasemble the engines) and you will see the lenght difference in only in the threads that the clutch bolts onto. You can cut the excess threadded shaft off no problem, use a hack saw or dremmel, cut it straight, and file the end so your clutch nut will thread on without cross threading.
Second, if the carb wont line up with the throttle linkage, flip it over. Take the carb off the engine and roll it 180 degrees so its upside down and re-install. Dont worry, a 2 stroke engine and or carb will run upside down, its the tank that makes it run outta fuel and stall when you flip it over. Other than that you should be fine. The Maximum uses a cool 2 piece engine mount that makes it really easy to install aftermarket engines. At the most you might hafta make a few new holes in the chassie for the engine placement.
Dont forget to use threadlock!
Oh, the OS .18CV-R is the closest drop in for that truck
<-- I own that one and did have it in a maxumim ST, and then a Kyosh spider, and now a Tmaxx, lol.
Good Luck!
