Newbie with question
Hi
I am new to the Nitro trucks so please excuse me if this is the wrong place to post a question like this.
I have been on the Tanks forum for some time and have a lot of experience with them but have only just purchased a Nitro truck. My question is with regard to cleaning them. I had my truck out for the first real run last night on some waste ground. It was brilliant fun but I happened to hit the only (large) puddle in the place full of mud and muck. My truck is now a bit mucky (understatement) and I wondered do you guys strip them down and clean them or do you have a better way of doing it I could use. The truck is a CEN MG10TR and is not too fancy so would nopt pose a problem to strip.
By the way, my daughters electric buggy is in bits in front of my - she also found that puddle although I think there was less of an accident in her part [>:] and now it really did need stripped.
I will be keeping clear of mucky pools in future.....
Thanks

RE: Newbie with question
well, i run my cars dirty, but i never run them caked in muck, as this can get in diffs and servo gears. how i clean is i grab a big can of efi carb cleaner. it drys quickly like break cleaner, but it doest compleately strip out oils and fluids, which is horrible for th engine. i remove the batery and avoid spraying the engine and electonics. then i dry it useing a hair dryer on cold or a compessor. after i am done, i put a few drops of blower motor lube on the front engine bearing.

I spray mine off with denatured alcohol and blow off with compressed air. For every hour of run time I spend about 2 hours of cleaning and maintenance. About every 2 months I tear them all the way down do a major cleaning and service.

ok, be carfull when you take it apart. make sure you are carfull on the bolts and dont over tighten.
stripping down the car is very good for teaching you how the car is made. just like in real cars. only, dont forget how to put stuff back togather, as it can get frustrating. if you strip down the car, put it back togather again without stopping, you delay and get sidetracked and you look at the pile of parts like its a rubix cube. this comes from expiriance (Damn drum breaks!!![:@])

Thanks for the advice guys. I have done a lot of building with the RC tanks so know the perils of pulling things apart and also do a lot on full size performance cars so am careful when rebuilding - not that I hav'nt screwed up the odd thing though.
I will take it apart one evening later in the week when time permits and if I get stuck I know a great place to go for help - here
Cheers
