Which OS .18CV-RX for GT2?
I'm going to get a new OS 18 CV-RX for my GT2, but saw towerhobbies have few versions, I prefer pullstart so which one is a direct drop-in, and what else do I need?
1)O.S. 18CV-RX w/11G Slide Carb
2)O.S. 18CV-RX w/11J Rotary Carb
3)O.S. 18CV-RX (S) w/11J Rotary Carb
Is it recommended to use the stock header and muffler? or should I upgrade(If so...which one is recommended)?
Also, I keep hearing people suggested to beef up the drive train, anybody care to tell me what to upgrade other than the aluminum differential gear?

RE: Which OS .18CV-RX for GT2?
The GT2, at least the FT version, is set up for a rotary carb, SG crank, and rear exhaust. You won't find that engine in the .18CV-R variety, however, since they're all side-exhaust.
That's easy to overcome with a side-exhaust header, and you can easily install an engine with a threaded crank rather than an SG crank if you use the NTC3 clutch nut. So I'd say the best .18CV-RX is the one with the rotary carb and threaded crank. The engine is available for $94.99 at the [link=http://www.smfstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=196_195&products_id=880]SMF Store[/link]. Also available is the [link=http://www.smfstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=57_97&products_id=324]side-exhaust header[/link] for $8.92 and the [link=http://www.smfstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=226_239&products_id=1517]clutch nut[/link] for $3.99. That should set you up.
The factory pipe...I'm not sure what it is, actually. The pipe I'm most fond of is the [link=http://www.smfstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=226_234&products_id=322]Associated FT Pipe[/link] as it's a great one for torque and all-around operation.
As for drivetrain durability, I'd hold off and just see how things go. You might find you need some upgraded parts, but rather than throwing money at it and guessing what might break, see what happens.

Both of my cv-r's are rear exhaust on my rc10gt i went with a new header and exhaust. Also its very hard on your dif i've destroyed a brand new dif within a gallon and repaired it and havent had a problem since. I drove it on a baseball diamond though so it got very dusty and sandy.

That one works fine. I had to cut the shaft and use a clutch nut part number 7602 it says its for dynamite engines but its the only one that is threaded all the way the 7603 only has threads half way so it doesnt secure correctly.

CV-R with rear exhaust? I'd welcome a picture; I've never seen one. All .18CV-Rs (and all other CV-Rs) I'm aware of have side exhaust.
Also, Ben said he'd like a pullstart, the one to which you linked is non-pull.

srry when i was thinking rear exhaust i meant that the exhaust port is at the rear of my car not the round exhaust hole on the side that is refered to as a rear exhaust. My bad ...
