Default original hpi mt

I have the original hpi mt, and i was wondering if it would be worth my time and money to make it into a race machine, how compettitive it would be? My local track has a production monster truck class that i can race in, So i dont have to worry about that.

Sure, why not? You should still completetly tear down the car and replace any worn running gear. Time is the best thing to invest, especially when racing, so you can get good at making your repairs and adjustments.

I have a MT 1 ¾ which started life as an original MT. If it where a MT 2 SS or something like that I would recommend it but the original MT does not handle as well as the MT 2. It would be costly to up date it to a MT 2 as other then the chassis upper deck and radio box that is what I did to my MT. Now if you just want to do it for fun try it.

You are correct but after you get things sorted out you have overpowered super fast wheely popping truck. The TZ has as much HP as some big blocks! Had to gear mine WAY up just to keep the wheels on the ground most of the time. Yes you are correct the 18 CV-RX is a better choice and even with it hope you have up graded the diffs and drive train!!!!!!

Its entirely up to you they are both good motors but the cv-rx is not as rough on your diffs and drive train as the tz is & is not aS overpowering
