It locks the diff. Makes both rear wheels spin at the same time. This gets you better traction and helps it accelerate faster. It also helps you pull wheelies easier and makes it so not only one wheel spins. I love this upgrade its definately one of my favorits so far. It was not TOO hard to put together and install, but you do have to follow the directions carefully. Its got alot of small parts so if you get it make sure you put it together on a plate or in a pan or something like that, just to make sure you dont lose any pieces.

yup, the differential (proball), goes in the gearbox. you will see what to take out of the tranny once you crack it open. Its the biggest gear in there, and the proball will look the same as the one you take out (except the proball diff is black and the stock diff is white) ... you will love it though!!!

Sorry buddy, I dont see one listed on the traxxas site for a jato, only the rustler... I dont know though it might still fit... you would have to compare the diff's part #'s and see if they are interchangeable... sorry I would check that for you but im too lazy
