Default RC10GT E-CLIP

I have the old school rc10gt with a os.12 cv-r. Im sure all of you have expierienced frustration with e-clips. There is a large e-clip on the end of the crankshaft holding the clutch bell assembly together. Since that e-clip is always spinning at hi speed, it comes off. Why? I DON"T KNOW!! I have gone through at leats 10 e-clips and 10 clutch bell bearings which arent cheep (about 7 bucks a piece) plus i've gone to two hobby shops who could not help me. I have tried wire, washers. etc. They all come off!! So if you have any ideas, please post. Any input is helpful. THX!

The groove that holdes the E-clip is probably worn. So solution 1. to temp fix it try putting CA + on the e-clip and shaft. This sometimes fixes the problem temp. Solution 2, Buy a 1/8 snap rings. This is a better problem fixer. Solution 3. If you can drill and tap the shaft for a 4-40 socket heat bolt. This will permantly fix the problem.

I had the same issue with mine , i solved the pb once and for all by drilling the part holding the clip and then threading it to get a screw fitting there , a little thread lock on top of that and since 4 gallons not even one screw came loose or flyed awayhere is two pics on how looksonce done .
In fact i used a lathe to drill the part to be accurate but i guess that a simple drill and a little patience should do .

If you buy a new engine, and get the correct bearings, you can use the long shaft that comes on the engine. It has a reverse thread bolt usually at the end already. Then you just need the clutchnut from a gt2 and you can end your frustration.

You can tap out your clutch nut shaft, but the problem is the engine spins counter clockwise and it will turn off your screw when you run it.

CR used to make a revers threaded clutch nut but they went out of business.
