Default Another RC10GT build thread

OK so I just bought a roller RC10Gt on ebay. It has been hopped up a bit and has been done nicely so far as it has CF shock towers, threaded aluminum shocks, aluminum rear bulk head, aluminum tranny brace, and stealth tranny with metal gears. It will be mainly used for just bashing so I'm thinking I might get the OS 18 TZ for it but I would like to get into racing so I would need to get a race legal motor for it like to 12 TZ. I not sure yet though. I plan to get RPM arms all the way around.
I will need to get a motor mount for it and clutch set up and I'm not sure which ones will fit the RC10GT. Also when I'm looking for a motor what do I need to be watching for? what shaft will it need to have and do I get a rotory or slide carb? I know there have been a few of these threads over the past few months but I could deffinently use the help so I know I'm getting the right parts for it.
Here are the only pics of it that I have right now. It won't get here for about a week.I'll keep you all up to date on the progress of the build.
Thanks

That's a nice roller.

Rotary carb is much easier to set up with that servo.

Engine mount

Also, here all are the parts for the GT2 which most might fit it.

I got confirmation that the car shipped today!! It should be here by the begining of next week!!!

here are some of engines I'm looking at for the rc10gt. what do you think is the best option? I also don't know which shaft I need to make it works right. I'm probably going to get either the 18tz or the 12 tz if I can get a pull starter for it. I may also go with the 18 CVRX since its cheaper and I have had one before and I know its a great little motor. and in case you can't tell I want a pullstart motor. lets hear you opinions!
Thanks

you need a standerd shaft or a short shaft you can't use a SG shaft.

so this OS12tz will not work becuase it has the wrong shaft? http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXRUN8&P=0

has anyone tried the LRP .18 in the rc10gt? I have heard alot of good about the motor in terms of power and ease of tuning. and i really like the price. but the shaft on it looks really long would it work or would I need to cut it down a bit for it to work?
Thanks

the 18tz is what I'm leaning toward, but I'm wanting to see what else is out there. that and I'm not sure if I want to spend almost 200 on an engine or not. but I probably will

this is the motor mount http://cgi.ebay.com/TRINITY-BLUE-ALU...QQcmdZViewItem

i do not believe it will work with a pull start i would suggest going with a starter box.

I like pullstarts better. I don't want to have another peice of equipment to haul around. and with a pull start you have a better feel for the compression of the motor

then get the .18 tz tx it is a pull start that is the one i have but i use a starter box and you have so much power that whatever you loose from the one way berring makes no difference ,and when you run all you have to have is your glow starter in your pocket no spinstart or box .

I think I'm going to bite the bullet and order the 18 TZ. here is what I have for my order. do you see anything else that I'll need or do I need something different from what I have here? I have clutch bells and clutches so I don't have any of them on my order.
Thanks

Well I guess I'll have to hold off buying the new engine for a little while. I just bought a Henry lever action .22 rifle with the money that was going to buy my new 18tz. maybe next pay period!!

i did order some part on ebay though. I bought the front and rear RPM arms, flywheel, flywheel collet, and clutch nut. so i'll install some of the parts while I'm witing for more money for the engine!

Oh and there's nothing quite like a nice and smooth Lever action rifle!!!

Well I ordered the engine anyway. I had a $20 off coupon for tower so I used it to order the engine and a few other thing too. Here a list of my tower order. now I just have to wait for it to all get here. I'll keep you posted.

I run an O.S. .18 CV-R in mine and it's a beast for that chassis, gobs of power and good run time also. I generally run O'Donnel in my 1/8 car and Maxx but for this one I just stick to 30% heli fuel and it runs great. Lots of smoke and oil but that's good, temps stay in check and gets alot of lube.

I had a CVR in a firestorm and an MT2. they are great little motors and hold an excellent tune. but I figured that if I'm going to build this car right then I would just go for the 18TZ and go all the way.

the tz is the way to go for bashing 2.28 hp what more do you have to say you can run the biggest clutch bell you can find and still have problems not pulling the front up with sick top end and you can pop the front end up at any speed .

I forgot to order a few things from tower. I still need to get an exhaust manifold and some motor mount screws. I just want to make sure that I'm getting the right ones.

here are the screws I'm looking at http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LX2836&P=M and http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXVC43&P=M

now for manifolds I have found a few that Look like they should work. if I can I want to get the HPI one since it comes with everything I need and is alot cheaper. but if it won't work I'll get one of the assosiated ones instead. Will any of them work?

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXNYY7&P=7

I was thinking about getting the CVD kit too. is it worth the money? http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXAV74&P=7

Thanks
