Come back of a JATO
#27
Thanks ilanstylz. Trust me you won't be disappointed. I wish I knew how to post video on you tube. I'm gonna learn. But man the Proline Bow Ties didn'nt make it to tank 8. Gonna throw the Anacondas on until I get the Jaco foam tires again. I'm also thinking about getting a dual brake set up I saw on HobbyEtc.com. Then I will get the Buku Pipe again. Man I miss that pipe.

The Anacondas are holding up ok. Just waiting till pay day to get the Jacos. Those foam tires hold up realy good. Also getting that dual brake set up when I get paid. Also thinking of gearing it down. Maybe some revo gears or something to keep the front end down and increase my top end. I will post pics once I get the brakes. The Brakes seem like they are going to work good.

i have never seen the dual brake set up, could you post a pic? also, with the revo gears, i had to remove one motor mount screw to allow the mount to move enough to mesh the gears. but i was running funny revo gears, closer to stock may not require this.

Here is a link so you can check out the brakes. http://www.hobbyetc.com/cgi-bin/item.cgi?part_id=58791

that looks really cool. i think you're going to have a monster of a jato, yesterday i broke in my 427 that i bought to put in the jato, but it's in a buggy now. i just might have to get the jato back and see what a 427 does to it.

How does that os 21 tm run? One of my buddy says it is similar to the os 18 tz, but with a little more torgue. Not a noticeable difference.I think the os 21 tm is over price compared to the TZ 18 with allmost close specs.

Thanks jikkuria. It should be a beast with the 427. As far as the .18TZ and the .21TM. They are pretty similar but I realy like the convenience of the EASY START. so thats why I chose the .21TM.

so, got a radar gun? i'd really like to see what it's got, because it looks just plain GOOD. i understand liking the ez-start, when i went to run my buggy yesterday, the bumpstart was sparking for some reason, and set some dry leaves on fire, scared me to death as i though m buggy light up... im thinking of going back to the roto start.

Its crazy but just by using the 5 cell battery pack the Jato does alot less wheelies. Also the power of the battery pack is alot more superior to using AA batteries. Should have switched to a 5 cell a long time ago. lol.

the other day when i broke in my motor i pulled out the 5 cell from my revo and put in on the buggy, but there was no where to put it. it was taped to the battery box, and i had to bypass the switch, but the steering and throttle was great
are you running the stock servo's?
are you running the stock servo's?

Well im running the stock steering servo but I have a Futaba S3003 servo for the brakes and throttle. Works great and with the aluminum brake arms the breaks lock up all the time. The only reason I want to get the dual brakes is for looks but my current set works great.

yea, my throttle/brake servo is going bad. it works great for throttle, but even without the arm it struggles to break. so, ever thought of sending your motor to a modifier?

I have thought about sending it to AB MODS. i still have the TRX 3.3 that came with the Jato I bought so im going to experiment and try to port it myself.

i did some port work on one of my friends trx 2.5's, but i didn't see a huge gain. i know i didn't work with the timing or anything advanced, but even the work i did on the ports wasn't great. im only 16, i dont have much dremel skill. lol.

The bottom line is you tried. I have been doing this for 14 yrs and besides working on real cars, I have never ported an RC MOTOR. I have ported Mazda Rotary engines but I used templates also. There are no templats for Rc motors. Im still trying to find some info on it and go from there. I will let you know how it turns out.

Got my Buku pipe a couple of days ago. Started the install at work and finished it at home. Can't wait to get this thing fired up with the OS .21TM in it. Here are some more pics.

Man nice work! Looks like one fast jato. I got a rustler a couple weeks ago - first nitro gas powered car - love it, but cant imagine the power of your jato with the new engine and pipes - siiiick

Thanks for the comments. It is one bad boy but I have killed 2 trannies since installing the Buku pipe. I got to talking to my LHS and some taller gearing should take care of that.
