Default Steering on a nitro Rustler

Hey guys, little help would be much appreciated! Just picked up a nitro rustler - 1st rc nitro car and notice the steering kinda sucks for lack of a better word. Now this is the only one i've ever drove so i really have nothing to compare to. But I was wondering if there was a way to get a wider range of steering to make tighter turns also if they sold some sort of steering damper the stiffened it up on strait aways. As soon as I punch the throttle the front end gets all squirely even with the alignment dead on... I'm thinkin even weighing down the front end so it'll dig more might help but with speed weight is usually the enemy.

Also on a another note the brake's are pretty week too. I've played around with adjustments and it just doesnt stop as fast as I think it should and isn't even close to lockin up which would be nice in some instances....

Again thanks for any help!

if you put your battery up front youll get more bite & weigh the same. your rear end will feel a little looser though.

Get a better steering servo. A $40 servo will end your problems.

Ok cool, I'll give that a try - you mean the battery pack that rests on the back as of now? Iwas thinking about getting a venom fail safe and mounting it up front but maybe I'll swap spaces - battery pack def weighs more than the failsafe...

This would be your best bet.

Then you would mvoe your stock steering servo to throttle. It is pretty easy actually. You will notice the wheels will turn a lot easier with this servo, and if it ever dies Hitec will give you a new one.

Ihave the same problem, alot of play between the two joints and the wheels. I tried adding lock nuts to the ends where the tie rod mounts the the wheel (buckle I think its called) it helped a little but still has a lot of play. I was thinking of adding a coupler washers to the white joints that mount to the upper deck to tighten that area up to - i just dont want to make it so stiff that it puts alot of strain on the servo. Any suggestions??

Just run it. You need slop to a point.

hobo here is the way to make that rusty handle for real!!! use a rc10gt steering bell crank setup and move the steering servo to the other side of the truck, it'll handle like never before!!!

those aluminum bellcranks will only fit an electric rustler.
