Default OS 18 TZ starting issue

Hi. I have an issue. Just completed a GT2 stock for now except we installed the OS 18 TZ. I realise these motors are supposed to be tight at the top but our Traxxas starter box won't even turn it over. It comes up to the top and it jams there. Then the starter wheel either bogs completely or continues to spin against the jammed flywheel and smokes. Suggestions?

Try putting a shim under the heat sink to give the combustion area a greater distance.

Thanks! At this stage I will try just about anything legal!

I had the same issue when breaking in an OS .18 CV-RX. SUper tight pinch. anyways, I found what worked for me was instead of trying to hold the car down on the starterbox, if I just bumped itby pressing down and letting go repeatedly it would actually bump the engine and get it to turn over, and after a few tyries it would start, was very annoying at first, but worked like a charm...

You can also loosen the glow plug 1/2 turn to get it running then tighten it back up after it fires.
I had to do this while breaking in a friends .18 CV-R (S)

Someone suggested a heat gun. That did the trick. We also learned we had the starter box set up milimeters out of line so that was costing us power. After a couple of frustrating days that motor coming to life was a sweet sound indeed. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.
