Ok so I got the steering fixed, turns out I had the D/R messed up, simple solution, but in my frustration I didn't see it. Anyways I took the truck out today and after running a tank I brought it in for a refill and noticed that fuel was leaking at the base of the head where it meets the block. I drained the tank, and took the head off, but nothing jumped out at me as a reason to what the problem might be. I screwed the head back on refilled the tank and the same thing happened all over again. Anyone have ideas or solutions?
yea the D/R, that is what i meant when i said a few posts up about it.

and also, my friends rc10gt2 usually stays between 230 and 280. is this to hot? he is running kinda rich also. but this is driving in grass the whole time.

Ok guys, I am new to this site and new to the nitro scene. I bought a Firestorm about a month ago for myself for Xmas. Love the truck so far and have put close to 1/2 a gallon through it already, if not a little more. I bought a K&N, 21T, battery pack and a new servo for it (645MG.) I got everything installed now and had a heck of a time with the servo. Finally got it working, but now it runs backwards (left is right, right is left.) If you look at the car from the front, the servo gear is on the left (passenger side.) I swapped it over to the drivers side (right) and had the same problem. Is there something I am doing wrong here? I also noticed the gear is smaller than the stock servo gear so I really have to tighten down the screw to hold the steering arm on there. Any recommendations are appreciated. I have read through this thread several times and have learned from it every time.

Thanks!
Chris

Well I didn't realize there was a switch on the radio for reversing the steering and the throttle. got that fixed. But now I have to pull everything back apart and put locktite on that screw for the servo because the servo gear is too small, and the screw ends up working itself loose. Anybody have this same problem?

Big tip for when you guys need new back tyres on ya Firestorm get the Pro-Line Gladiator 2 Truck Tyre 2.2" around £12 a pair mad grip on all terrain I find it very hard to do a donut with them on as they just dig in but makes poping wheeles easy, they also last a long time perfect.

After a break of a few months i'm back into my Firestorm again :)

Thing is i can't help but have a tinker with it.

I've read through the HPI catalog and know the official HPI hop-up's nearly by memory :D But i'm really struggling to find hop-up's by 3rd party companys.

I know for a fact i read a review on this very site about a non HPI carbon chassis, but my question is what else is available?

And more importantly what's worth upgrading?

i am officially getting a firestorm this summer. i will be bored over the summer so what the hell lol.
also, i contacted RPM and they said that they might be making parts for the firestorm. they said that it might not be to soon, but i told them that just a bumper would be nice.
but i bet it wouldnt be to hard to scab on one from another car.

FUSEBMX13

If you want a bumper set for the Firestorm try Tbone racing not a bad set havent broken the back one yet but have busted the front one hit a wall about 38mph as the power switch failed on the truck (not even a fail safe could stop it) the switch has now been removed and I would advize every one to do the same as its not nice seeing your truck going full power away form you totaly out of control, tried runing after it but diden't stand a chance.

Some fantastic links there for upgrades [sm=thumbs_up.gif]

Anyone experimented with exhausts?

I've heard great reports on the JP-1 and RB's, but am wondering how they perform with the G3.0?

Quick question. I bought the Venom 5-cell battery pack. How do I hook this up to the car since they have different plugs??

Thanks
Chris

try bypassing the on/off switch

Chris_H 02-09-2008 01:52 PM

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

I must not be understanding then, because its the connectors that don't match. Does the wiring into the on/off switch have the same connector as the battery pack?

Thanks

motorhead91 02-09-2008 02:06 PM

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

no, plug the pack straight into the receiver

Chris_H 02-09-2008 02:30 PM

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

If I leave it back in the battery area, the wires are not long enough for it to reach up to the receiver. I may just buy another charger, cut the connector off and put it on the existing wiring. Seems if I mount the battery pack up front, and plug it into the receiver, it has constant power, and having to take the receiver apart everytime to plug it in and unplug it will get to be a pain. I drive this pretty much every day or every other day. Unless somebody has pictures of how they did it, and it is fairly easy to do I'll just buy another charger.

Thanks

With the venon plugs you need to cut off a section of the plug. You will see the battery plug has places for 3 wires, but only two wires go into the plug. Remove the section of plastc with a craft knife that has no wire in it, thereby you make the battery plug narrower. Photo below normal plug on the right, then a modified plug on the left.

Battery ends up positioned in your firestorm like this:

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

Hi great thread. I recently got one of these trucks, and I have it ready to go but its' still in the box awaiting some decent weather, it's far too cold, rainy and wet to run it right now. Is the accepted method now for breaking nitro motors in, the heat cycle method, put it on the ground and run it in figure eights until the engine reaches about 190-200 degrees, shut it off, and do this for a couple tanks of fuel? I have read that the sitting on a box and idling a whole tank method as is described in the firestorm manual is a oldschool way that isn't as good.
