How do others do panel lines on car bodies?
Just wondering what techniques other people use to get black panel lines on car bodies?
My first effort was by masking off and spraying black. Turned out a bit 'wiggly' but not too bad. Decent thin lines on an old body. (HSP)
Tried this way on a RX-3 body with disasterous results!
Inconsistant thicknesses, overspray patches, some areas missed altogether and managed to forget to mask an entire side window!
7 hours of masking and my 'masterpiece' turned to crap!
A heap more lines to do as there's tons more detail than my green 'crash car' but such a terrible result I tried to look up other ways.
Haven't found any.
Anyone else got suggestions and or photo's of doing lines differently that masking and spraying?

permanent marker...??? if uve got steady hands do it freehand but if u dont then mask on one side and move along it with the marker. i believe this should be done before spraying the actual color onto the car. ive never done it but i follow detailing forums and so on and ive heard mention.

"mask on one side and move along it with the marker."
Cheers. Hadn't thought of that?
Any others?

Paint as usual, then use an Xacto rounded blade to gently scrape away the paint from the raised lines. Then go over those areas with a permanant marker.

Cheers. I might have to practise the paint, scrape and paint again...
Has anyone used 1mm pinstripe and painted over it?

Has anybody used a permanent marker before the paint process on the inside of the body? Just have to make sure the lines are dry? Any feedback on this?

I used a permanent marker on my Spiderman designed body. I used a black sharpie for the web lines and then used water based FasColor over it. Seemed to work pretty well.
