Default S-10 repaint

Ok, i picked this up at Toys r us a few days ago, cause i thoguht it would be fun to repaint, it was only like 15 dollars, RC wise...its a piece of crap. But anyways, since i can't paint it inside like on a clear body, i was wondering how to go at this.

I was thinking i would have to sand it down to the plastic(or whatever it is), then re-primer it, then paint, then a ***** load of clear coats

Is this right?

here's the truck

I wouldn't even sand it. Just hit it with a plastic-compatible primer. You may or may not need a clearcoat depending on what type of paint you use.
