Default Loss of a great flying friend

I lost my younger brother in a car accident last Thursday. My brother, Rick Hannah, was killed on I-94 near Gary Indiana last Thursday morning in a terrible traffic accident. He was a long time RC flier and pattern enthusiast.

Some of you guys out there probably knew Rick and I wanted to get the word out to you all.

Rick re-kindled my interest in RC flying many years ago and it was a great gift from him. We grew up flying RC with our Dad, Bill Hannah, who worked for Heathkit and was instrumental in their line of RC products.

Rick leaves behind two teenage sons, Steve and Stuart, and his wife Melanie.

For anyone in the area, such as members of Whirlwinds RC, the funeral service will be Wednesday February 9 at 10am at Peace Lutheran church St. Joseph MI.

In lieu of flowers, we are asking folks to contribute to the boys 529 college fund account which we have established. Send me a PM and I will give you the details if you would like to help.

I'll miss him a lot.

Steve Hannah

Dear Steve,

On behalf of myself and my family, as well as members from the District 7 pattern community, we send our condolences to you and your loved ones. Wishing you strength and God's blessing during this difficult time. Just a year ago, my mother passed away so I can relate to the pain you are experiencing right now. If there's anything you need or we can do, don't hesitate to let me know.

That hurts just reading about it and I didn't even know your brother. Please accept my most heartfelt condolences.

Very sorry Steve.. I felt the same way when I lost my father about 6 years ago. He was my flying buddy my entire life basically. My condolences to you and the rest of your family.

Thanks for all the kind words and thoughts guys. This is a great community of friends. Rick wasn't too active in precision aerobatics lately (he spent his time recently with his kids Kart racing) but I hope his buddies in SW Michigan get the word too. Your thoughts mean a lot to me. See you guys on the contest trail this season.

Steve,

I just saw this. I am so sorry to hear this man! I feel really horrible for you and your family. Lost my sis on the highway in Michigan. Seems like it's always the good ones that are chosen. Hope you and your family are spending some time remembering the good times. That's what I try to do when I get down about my brother and sister. Remember the good times!

Condolences from my family to yours!

Chris
