No, trim is on automatically.

A few suggestions....

1. Are the throttle and elev trims 'crosssed'? ie is the trim lever you are using assigned to throttle? I think the default on the 12FG is to have the trim lever left of the elev stick is throttle trim and vice versa. So, check the trim lever next to the elev to see if that works. The trims are assignable so you can switch the trim to where ever you want it.

2. Is the trim rate turned way down? On the 12FG, you can program the rate step the trim lever will have so you can have very coarse to very fine trim adjustments. If you have the rate turned way down (fine) it is hard to tell the servo is moving when you change the trim.

Go under the function menu and make sure the throttle trim is assigned to the correct trim lever or slider that you want,

I think by default the throttle trim only works when the stick is in the lower half, i.e. 0-50% throttle, maybe even 0-25%. Throttle trim is only useful when adjusting idle, I think that's the idea behind the feature. If you've programmed throttle cut, make sure it's off. Throttle cut overrides both stick and trim levers.

Man, I'm glad that someone ask that question. I had the 9CAP,10C and now a 12FG, I'm trying to move the throttle trim to the slider, and the manuel is not
very clear. I'm looking to move the throttle trim, over to the slider to start and stop the motor, thanks for the help guys

Jarvis,

Just go under the function menu and choose the left slider for the trim. You can set the % of how much it works and such. It wont work until below half throttle. Works great that is how I set up all my glow stuff,

Jarvis,

That takes some playing. Somewhere someone had an article about doing it on the 9C. It works the same way. I'll try to find that link. I did it on my dad's 9C, but it wasnt easy.
