Got it. I thought the range expressed was intended to be Low to High.

See http://www.springerlink.com/content/m574015j3v6714r7/. The 0.8% expansion rate is at a high temperature.

The thermal expansion coefficient is 55x10-6 when the temperature is no more than 70 degree (C).
I'd looked up all the various thermal exp coefficients....and they seem small enough.....but who knows what the actual values are for hybrid materials....such as balsa/fiberglass fuselages. That asided, what matters is what happens in the real world - there is a noticeable trim change from a 60F cool morning to a a 90F afternoon when the plane has been sitting in the sun......or.....after the plane has been sitting in a 110F van while I'm at work....I could feel the trim change on the first flight in the evenings after work (as the plane cooled). Nothing major, but something that goes away with very short pushrods when the elevators servos are mounted in the tail.

Regards,

This URL http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/th...pvc-d_782.html has the expansion data for FB and stainless steel and FB has slightly higher expansion rate.

So for a pull-pull setup, the lines will be tighter in summer.

If it is pushrod setup (say via long cf rods), the center trim will require some adjustment.

I machined a rudder pulley for my Wind 110 (along with horns and wing adjusters) using the H9 wheel up front. Very smooth operation and constant tension

I'm going to try one of these on the rudder of a CAP I'm building, using a pull pull rudder. I think it will work OK, but have yet to install it. It appears to put the pull point right on the hinge line. I'll glue and screw it in place once I'm happy with the position.

thanks for the compliments guys. I used 3M Scotchweld which bonds incredabley well to the aluminum and wood. Ken, I incorporated a hinge point into the pulley as ithas to be dead on center. any slack can let the wire jump out which could make for some excitement.

Great minds think alike. I'm also using a hinge point right next to the horn. Funny, the picture isn't showing up in my previous post now. I'll try to edit a in link to the Dubro unit.
