The NATS Tune-up is just around the corner May 31st and June 1st at AMA site 1. We will have the pilots' meeting at 9:00 AM and begin flying at 9:15 both days. FAI will fly F-15 on Sunday. Come early and practice on Friday. All profits from the contest will be donated to the U .S. F3A team. Finally, if you are coming and you haven't booked a room, do it immediately. It looks like there is a volleyball tournament in Muncie and rooms are scarce. I'm staying in Anderson.

I need to thank some people for their help in getting me back in the air after losing a servo arm and elevator linkage early in my first flight of the contest, including, but not limited to Mike Mueller, Bill Pritchett, Lynn Morgan and Bill Kutchell. Without you guys I'd have gone home grumpy and defeated.

I have to thank a number of people as well. The solder joint on the deans of my arming plug became undone a third of the way into my first flight and I had a rare (knock on wood) electric dead stick. I would like to thank Mike Cohen, Wild Bill, Mike Gaishin, and my buddy Val for getting it fixed in no time flat including supplying a portable soldering iron, the solder, and doing the actual work. All I did was just stay out of the way (easier said than done for me).
Special respect to Mike G, he held the short and undoubtedly very hot lead as it cooled, his cries of HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT, could be heard at sight 3. He is either very tough or not too...... Anyway, thanks a lot.
Sorry I left without saying goodbye to everyone, I was NOT feeling well! That made the drive home, and several stops for projectile everything, very interesting.

Of course a big thanks to Dave Johnstone as CD - these contests always seem to go very smoothly. Little down time and little fuss about who is doing what and when. Also thanks to Ron Hansen for helping to keep us motivated on the flight line.
It is always a treat to fly at the field in Muncie, especially so with this kind of turnout.

Thanks to everyone who came to the NATS Tune-up. Thirty-eight pilots exceeded what we have seen at this contest for many years. I think that pattern is alive and well! I had some really good help, which made my weekend much more enjoyable. Ron Hansen did a great job as co-cd and flight line motivator. Bob Kane brought the computer and scoring system, as well as served as our on site technical trouble shooter. We had a few glitches for him to fix. Joy Murphy volunteered to help with scoring so she could learn the system for their upcoming event. Jessy Sims, who works at AMA, helped us get a few things done in Muncie in preparation for the event. Finally, the contestants were great! Everyone was at their spot for judging and the flying went on continuously. We made a profit of $750 which will be donated to the F3A team fund along with the $500 that we made last year at the district finals. If you live within a reasonable driving distance of this event, I hope that you will plan to come next year. We plan to do it again!
