Build your own 4Csoft mount?????

Does anybody do this or is it a big waste of time? I'm on a tight budget but like to build "stuff" anyway. Any photos of the process available? Even a worn out mount (do they wear out) that could be sent to be to dissected and see the construction would be a REAL BONUS.
Thank you!

Hi Ken, check out the mounts on the Budd Engineering website. His mounts have been on sale and work quite well ($30 plus shipping, pre-drilled for YS for strokes, but you can order the mounting plate undrilled for different engines); this is a firewall type mount. If you need a beam type mount you can use the Dave Brown mount now sold by Ohio Superstar products. There are photos of each type of mount if you want to 'borrow' the design.
Good Luck!
What 4-stroke engine will you using?

"What 4-stroke engine will you using?" Well, haven't quite gotten that far yet. I'm looking at a couple of different planes. I want to scratch build as I like to build. In the running are a couple variations of the InSite and another I'm waiting on some plans on to see how it looks as if that makes any difference. I have a YS 120 NC in almost new condition and am looking at a couple of YS 140's The insite planes in question flew on a 140. If I go with the 120 I'll just reduce the size a tad to accommodate the 120. I'm truing to get my ideas in line so I can start acquiring parts and pieces.

Either Ohio Superstar is out of business or the web site is down. I get the dreaded 404 message. I'll check later.

Hi Ken,
Ohio Superstar is still in business and I checked their website while I was posting the message... keep trying
. It sounds like you plan to scale down a 2 meter design and the Insight is a good choice. You might also consider the Lightning (there's a Looong thread here on RCU) which is available as a short kit (the full size version) from Eureka. They might cut you a short kit in a smaller version if you want to spend the money. It is an easy build, too.

Search MTK's threads. He has built his own mounts and had some very good instructions on doing it posted here. It may be hidden in the gas forum since that is what he has been doing lately but the information still applies.
