I would like to get som recomendations for what servos to get to my new 2x2m patterplane. I now have a 90size patternplane with digital JR8301 on all sufaces
Same or similar to: DS8231 Digital Ultra Precision 1.76 oz (50.0 g) 0.73 x 1.52 x 1.32 in,(19 x 39 x 34 mm) 88 oz-in (6.4 kg-cm) 0.22 sec@ 60 deg Coreless, nylon gears, Dual Ball Bearings $129.95/$99.95 comparable to JR4131 .
I will only use digital servos. pref. JR I have heard that several use the JR DS8401 and 8411 (8511). approx 11-15 kg. Should I use 2 on the elevator or one, should the Rudder servo be more powerful?
I am also considering the OS 140 rx with a OS tunedpipe and header, pref. 2strokes, other reliable options ?

Looks like you have the right stuff already.
the OS is very dependable and powerfull engine.
JR digitals are hard to beat... use the S/A version or convert the current ones over to nylon gears if they have metal gears.
The nylon are smoother and will last long.
8411sa, 8417sa, 9411sa all good servo's

Well, of course the plane will fly with 3003 servos but it WILL fly better (or should I say more consistantly) with more powerful and precice servos.
I have 8401's throughout my Alliance and they are great. One on the elevator and rudder and one each on the ailerons. They are lighter and more precice than the metal geared version (8411 I think is their designation) although they are only rated to about 5.5V so a regulator is required if using a 6V pack. This negates the weight issue but they will still be more precise do to reduced gear slop with the resin gears. However even at 5.1V that my regulator runs at they are putting out over 11kg of pull which makes for a very stable platform.

I run my 8401s on a lipo battery with 6.0v regulator. No problems after a full season like this, though I don't carefully monitor pot wear.
