I've been tooling around the various forums and sites checking out the various arf/arc aircraft suitable for pattern. I happen to have two n.i.b. Bully 120 rear exhaust that I'd like to see put to good use. I'm looking for suggestions on some suitable arf/arc planes that are UNDER 72" in length.... I can fit a full 2 meter bird in my truck BUT if I stick with 72" I can transport the plane without a lot of monkeying around and shifting things to fit in the back of my truck. My first preference would be a "true" pattern ship but I understand there are certainly suitable 3-d type and imac type planes that would fit my needs as well. I'm only a sportsman level pilot so don't exclued planes that wouldn't work for an FAI pilot but would be fine for me. I will be running a bolly exhaust pipe out the back and do realize that it might not fit the belly pan if said plane was initially designed for a four stroke. That doesn't really bother me that much...after all, that look was all we knew when we ran 61 engines and put the pipe under the wing!

Mark, I'm rigging out an Excelleron at this moment....it will have a Magnum 1.20 Two stroke on it (decided the 91 just wouldn't make it for me even though I never tried it). I chose the Excelleron for many of the reasons you outlined, and it will be my "off season" play pattern plane....right now looks like 8.24 lbs with everything in it. Figure that will work well. Other flight reports from reputable sources state that it is a VERY good pattern flier. I hope to find out soon!!!

Since you have 2 engines you might be interested in using one in the excelleron and the other in a Swallow (www.giantscaleplanes.com).. and BTW afterwards put a review of the two
... joking aside the Swallow at under $200 is a very good deal!!
