For those who have tried the 4 blades on their pattern plane, what is the consenous on them? how do they compare to the larger 2 blades, ie 17x12. Looking for a prop for a mintor 170 on an OTOP pattern plane for good pulling, and more manageable speed both level, up and down. Also, what about the mejzliks, was looking at the 19x8 to be used on the same motor.

I am flying the apc 15.5 x 12 on the OS140RX. Good speed management in both vertical up and down lines. You don't seem to get that speed build up you do with a 2 blade and with throttle management you can actually slow down the downlines.

Don't know about the Mintor, but you might want to try an APC "Lockhart" 15 3/4 X 11 3 blade. I have run the 11 and 10" 3 blade on the OS 140RX and it is really awesome. I flew the 11" at the NATS this yr and am flying the 10" right now. I like the 10" better but the 11 is probably better on the Mintor with more power than the OS.

I'm also flying the OS1.40 with a 15.5-12 four blade. I've been flying it for a couple of years now. SLows down well and is extremely quiet. Haven't seen any reason to try the three blades.

I fly with Jeff rcu and it does fine on his OS RX but his plane is 9 3/4 lb, I tried on a Focus OS RX and it didn't have enough poop for a 10 3/4 LB plane has some weird thrust issues. I haven't tried on the Mintor if I had one I would try it, really like some of the effects of the 4 blade constant speed and very slow down lines. The 15.75 X13 3 blade is to much for the Mintor 170 in summer I liked it in the fall but to much heat in summer, your rpm will tell the story, have a 17 X12 2 blade if the 4 don't work out.

I have the 15.5x12 4 blade on my os140rx and I couldn't be happier. I get many compliments at the contests about how much time I have to set up for my next maneuver. My caller has more time. Downline speed is nice and slow. Upline has plenty of power. Nice and quiet. Also its in a 10 1/2 pound Zen 140. Not the 120 version, the custom built 140 version. Anyway, I recommend this to everyone and everyone I recommend it to that has tried it loves it. It really is the prop to use. I have found no strange thrust issues just needed more right thrust. I was running a 17x13 and I really liked that until I tried the 4 blader. Now I have several 17x13's sitting around that will not be used as I love the 4 blade.
Good luck

I am using a 12X4 2 blade on a os .46FX in a hobbico spetrum. I love it in flight but I don't have much clearance on the ground. Would switching to a 3 or 4 blade help?

I am running a Greves pipe so that does make quite a difference as you stated.

I actually think my plane is smoother with the 4 blade. Not sure about this though as it's been a while since I had a 2 blader on there.
I have not noticed any vibration though. I do balance the props though.

How much RPM can I expect with the 15.5 x 12 APC four blade in the os 140 RX with OS-HATORI pipe and 15 % fuel flying more or less 3000 feet over the sea level?
Thanks.
Jorge
