Maybe I should have politically correctly said entry level classses or just Sportsman and Intermediate<G>.

The Quest along with the Excelleron 90, World Models Groovy 90, Fliton Infinity 90, Hangar 9 Showtime, CA Epsilon 90 and Widebody 60 designs, and Dream 110 are equal to the task and in some cases more. These are all great 90 class designs. A few years back you didn't have the choices you have now. And if you want to go bigger you have the Epsilon 120 and Ultra RC Icepoint.
Ta boot, in some cases, you even have a 3D capable airframe!

I have the older Quest 3D that was sold by Creek Hobbies. I flew Sportsman with it last year and it was fine. The plane now sold by Ultra RC has some minor design changes, for the better, and much better covering. I'm using the plane now to practice Intermediate and it does the schedule well. If I could just say that for the guy with the sticks! I'm using a YS-110 on mine.

You won't go far wrong on this one. It's a lot of plane for the price.

I also have the older Quest 3D and it flies well. I competed with it in Sportsman and Intermediate. I saw Eric Henderson fly the FAI pattern with it as a demonstration at a pattern meet. So it will do the manouvers.

Mine flies well with a YS 1.10.

I also flew the older Quest with an OS 120 Surpass III. It flew the Sportsmen sequence well and I would still be flying it next year in the Intermediate class, if it weren't for the inadvertant landing I had that cracked the fuse in half.
I call it an inadvertant landing, but to be honest it was a dive straight into the ground from about 30 feet, totally my fault, I allowed it to snap out on a landing approach.

Good flying plane for the money, and it looks good too.

Joe,
Thanks so much for the reply and the listing of potential "entry level" pattern planes.

I have been out flying foamies all day indoor.
I'm afraid that's what I have to look forward to for most of the next couple months here in Iowa.

I've been out of the hobby for a number of years and can feel the urge to give pattern one more try...
Besides, I'm too old for all this flip-flop 3D stuff.

About he "low class" comment.
I just couldn't resist when you left one just laying out there like that!

Thanks again!

I have version 1 with some minor lightening mods and a Hyde -mounted YS 91 FZ. The plane will do the advanced pattern , but not as well as a pure 90-120 pattern design... and it wasn't nearly as good as my U- CAN- DO 60 with an OS 91 pumped for 3d. It's a compromise design as most who own it will tell you, not bad , but just that.
