I think whats more curious is why the judging criteria changes from WC to WC? In Poland zeros for snaps were being handed out left and right (I know I had at least 2 or 3 every flight!), in France few if any zeros for what I would call worse breaking snaps than was flown in Poland. Distance was more closely watched in France where in Poland 200+ meters was common. Seems there is a new focus each WC on a specific criteria.
This is what really narks me about F3A, the goal posts seem to always be changing. I to got knobbled for my snap efforts in Poland, perhaps rightly so. Had I performed the same snaps in France I’m sure I would have been scored. There were lots of pilots out there performing completely illegal snaps, one of them from the UK team no less. Fortunately for our team position he got scored but had he done the same in Poland it would of been zeros across the board.

Can they not just stick to one set of rules!? And what will it be come WC 2007? How are we meant to practice? All you can do is 2nd guess and try and emulate what the top guys are doing.

That being said, I had no problem with the judging for the most part they got it right.
I agree Chad. Above all I think they were very consistent and in the end I think the results reflected how the pilots flew.

Hi Chad,
Hope you are keeping warm. First snowfall here today. Thanks for the info. Hope to get there myself someday.

Boy has this thread wandered. Maybe this should be a new thread. If memory serves these same things were hot topics at the US Nats prior to that years worlds. Was this true in other countries?
Maybe more international judging coordination. (Is there any?) Online judging seminar in the off years to review? Maybe a mandatory judging seminar in a coastal location? At the FAI expense of course.

From the sound of the end results the system is not broken just could be better.
