tag because I want one of these larger pattern kits. BTW, which of the JB kits would be good for a Saito .91 engine?

I always liked the Bridi Dirty Birdy. I had the original, but I'm sure the newer ones fly even better. Plus... they're CHEAP!!

Have they revised the Bridi Dirty Birdy?

Default Not lately......

I think he's gettin' low on the Dirty Birdys.
The XLT or the Great Escape would be good for the Saito.

He quit production of kits a few months, but has 3 containers full of planes. (kits)
Dave.

What is the difference between the XLT and the Great Escape? Anyone know about the Sun Fli 5?

Default Bridi designs

While this discussion is going on no one has mentioned the Bridi "UFO".

I have one partially built that I put away 19 years ago. It is set up for a Webra .61 SE.

I have always wondered what this plane would be like.

How about it? Any experienced out there?

OK, this is what I found from Kinkos:

The Boxer 120 comes on 6x 30"x42" sheets and would cost $52.50 to copy the set.

The Boxer 60 comes on 7x 24"x35" sheets and would cost $41 to copy the set.

Add price for a tube and to ship in the US, about $10-12 I would guess. Also, note that the construction method requires laminating these template sheets to the balsa and the original plans supplied are on tracing paper. I don't think that reg paper would be a problem. Also, with some thought and savy building one may be able to eliminate the paper all together.

Also, please note that I am really not keen on doing this, as I hope, like most of you, that someone will resurect the design and continue to offer plans in Gus' memory. It's a wonderful airplane!

Default Boxer 45 ??

Hey Guys,...

I know this thread is a bit old,... it just recently came to my attention as it appeared on the "top of the stack". I diligently read through the entire thread as I am very interested in BOTH the Bridi designs and the Boxer series!!

Quite a lot was written about the larger Boxers, but does anyone have any thoughts or opinions on the smaller Boxer 45?? Any plans or cores for the Boxer 45 kicking around that nobody has got around to building yet??

Currently I'm trying to scale down a set of Boxer 90 plans, via AutoCAD, to a 55 inch wing span with 610 squares for area and a fuselage length of 56 1/2 inches. Even if I do accomplish this task and get it plotted out, I've still got to find a sorce for the foam cores.

I'm hoping to build this very light with retracts and power it with a Saito 80!! Any thoughts or opinions??

Signed,
Steve T.

Jarvis, would you be interested in parting with the 90 plans?

Default Good Pattern Planes

Someone mentioned the Curare. I was interested in Pattern flying about 16 years ago. Indy R/C was big back then and they had a whole bunch of very nicely done kits (with fiberglass fuselages) of good pattern planes of the day. I bought the CAREER 60 which looks and appears to have exactly specs of the Curare which was being flown by the international F3A champion (either Wolfgang Matt or Hanno Prattner). Don't know why they didn't call it Curare-- but I guess they didn't want to pay licensing fees. Anyhow, I bought the kit and finished the wing to ARC status. The rudder and stabilizer are also finished (ARC). I did nothing to the fiberglass fuse. I am too old to fly pattern now and not too interested any longer. This could be a nice plane if someone wants to put some time into finishing it. I can include photos if anyone is interested. I also have the OS Max 60 RE-P (pumped) engine and header I planned on putting into it along with pull pull stuff.

Hi Liberator. I just may be interested in your Career. Could you post some pics ? Have been looking for a Curare. I understand that MK carries them , But I wonder if they are the fiberglass fuses like the originals? I may be going through your neck of the woods in Oct. to try a little fishing. Send more info please.

Default CAREER/CURARE PATTERN PLANE

Hi calculated-risk

I'll dust off digital camera and put some pictures on here--if I can jump over the hoops to succeed at this. Never put pictures on RC Universe. Did put pictures of an N gauge brass loco on E bay. Hopefully it isn't any harder to do on this site. I attach a lo res photo below--this site only allows file size of 80K. I can send very high res photos to anyone who wants them but I need the email address of requestor.

Does anyone know much about a Bridi Vanguard and how it performs compared to a Kaos?
