MIL SPEC Titanium Honeycomb reinforced Carbon Fiber. . . . . .

1/8" lite ply is for sport planes and won't hold your servo's precisely enough . . . . it may work thru Intermediate, but you will definately be able to tell the difference once you get to Advanced. . . .

Only one small cottage-industry business produces MSTHRCF. . . . and they're currently out of stock.

So in the mean time, I would use 1/8" lite ply from the local hobby shop and cover it with Carbon Fiber Monokote . . .

Today I installed my servo tray. It is nomex honeycomb with carbon on one side and glass on the other. No more difficult to work with than liteply, just more expensive and harder to obtain. Just don't forget to wear a NIOSH-approved mask. Oh, and the liteply screw mounts I had to glue on, those are carbon laminated on both sides. This is what FAI is all about ;>

My Europe-spec Abbra came with very little in the way of built-in formers, servo trays &c.
Just one 1/8 thick ?herex/glass/epoxy tray in the fus some way aft of the wing tube.
I installed a long tray extending well forward to carry things like the tank, rx batt etc., made from 1/8/3mm blue foam with 50gm/sq.metre glasscloth epoxied each side. Nyrod plastic tube for the servo screws, little strips of lightply to spread load near tywraps.

You're welcome, Brian!! I was poking fun at how pattern guys take the simplest function and make it twice as expensive and complicated than it needs to be.

No problem, I actually came to my senses last night and glued in the precut liteply tray that came with it, looks great and fit is perfect with no effort.
