Well seeing as how both of the airplanes in the gallery are Jasonkim514's, I would venture to say it is safe to assume that's his stand he's selling.

Yeah... right... I kinda agree ,but it sucks when commercial entity masquerades as a private person. Not saying thats the case here though.
$250? You've gotta agree, that's funny!

For $250.00 they better come to my house and custom build the stand to fit my airplane. I seriously doubt they sell many of these stands at that price.
But then again, at that price they don't have to sell very many

You are absolutely correct. We are here to discuss airplane stands.

I prefer something that is at a stand up height like what my buddy makes and sells. I don't have to bend down. The plane is up at a comfy height to work on. I'm only in my 30s and never really minded getting down to work on a plane until I used his one day.

I still carry my fold up PVC stand for places that I can't stick the stands in the ground but I couldn't tell you the last time I used it.

I love those stands, I've been using mine for nearly 20 years now. I need to build a new set soon as they don't fit the wide fuses of today's airplanes. I've never made a stand up PVC stand before but I need to. I have the fold up wooden one I was given a 10 years ago or so but it's a pita sometimes.

The metal ones I have in the photo fit the widebody planes. My PVC stand is one for on the ground or a bench top.

I had looked at one of those wooden fold up type stands but it seemed heavy and a PIA to set up and take down. I did like the it for the nice table top to hold parts and tools.

I might have to make an add on modification my stand come to think of it.

Mine were made 15 years before wide bodies were even thought of. I do carry the wooden one with me and use it alot but I don't like the thin fuse supports. I crushed a belly pan once with it. I use it mostly for working in the shop now. I've been making a short pvc stand for each air pane I have for years but I never made a stand up type and I wonder why I never did. I don't know if I'll make them an X type or a normal H type and use 45 degree fittings at the bottom to extend the legs way out at the bottom for stability. Time will tell. PCV is cheap.

I made one with 3 pieces of foam, 2 sides and a base, and then "laminated" cardboard on the sides for durability. it is light, you can work on the plane and stick pins, x-acto whatever in the base to keep from sticking yourself. Cost was about $6. Great for transport in the car, or just working on it.

Hi

I have had great success with J & L sky stand. it is all steel, folds flats and can pretty much accept upto a 30% size plane easily.
All the guys at my club are in love with this stand. check out the link

let me know what you think.

I was wondering what most pattern flyers use when it comes to plane stands.
I use just a standard pvc pipe stand. I bought 2 from at a club for $5 a piece. They do a great job. I´ll save my other $240 dollars for servos!

That's a really cool stand.

I like how it folds up and you don't have to get on the ground to work on the plane.

That sky stand doesn't seem like it'll work with a pattern plane. I thought this was a pattern forum. Either way, the sky stand looks like it will work great with stunt planes but now sure about pattern planes.

What makes you say it wouldn't work with a pattern plane?

It's adjustable for fuselage width.

i have three pattern models 60 size, 90 size, and a 2m size, the stand works great with all three of them. plus all my 15 other models.

The best part is no bending down, all the work can be done while standing.

Hmm, if you guys saw my stand you'd say I was one cheap S.O.B. It's just 2 pieces of 2" foam and a short piece of PVC. Left me enough $$$ for a few cases of fuel and a new 12Z. That is a nice looking stand though. Hey, if it makes you happy - go with it. It's all good.

Forget the stand, use the space in your vehicle to take more PLANES.

Here's mine, custom made for the Laser by a friend.
http://flickr.com/photos/aerowold/tags/stand/

It can be taken apart from transport by removing the two wood plugs in the base.
