Abbra aileron horn
#2

Sorry, it's the el.,but I did the ail the same way. There's a ?herex/epoxy spar running the length of the control surface. An M3 bolt forms the horn for the MK fitting. A suitably-sized CF tube is cyanoed to the rear of the spar to carry the bolt.
I can't remember for certain, but I think that the ail has a hard point built in for a horn, but I doubt if it's large enough for the base of the Chip Hyde horn.
BTW, I don't keep a flights log ,but one of the programs on my Tx has aroud 80 hrs for one of the Abbra programs, so it'smany flights with no probs. from the flight controls.

Sorry, I made a cock-up on the original picture(it was enormous), and my deleted message was an apology for the size!
To my surprise, being a computer idiot, I successfully resized the pic, so deleted my post.
(Re; delivery, I got mine from Lorenz in Germany-----------www.f3aLorenz.de or similar--Google should find him)

I ordered mine last November and yes I ordered it from ES the work is worth waiting for I will be running a ZDZ40 and that's why I'm a little worried about the horns Ed says there is a hard point behind the spar in the aileron's but know mention of how big it is, thats why I'm inquiring about the Chip Hyde horns. I have been flying gas for 20 years now as well as pattern and I know from experience that the gas set up will more stress on that horn set up. The elevators will be easy to set up beacuse you can get at everthing the ailerons are as you know all sealed up and I hate to start cutting things up and find out that the hard point is to small.f3a05 is that 80 hours on a gas set up or glow?

I ordered mine in the first week of November, still no plane. At the time I thought the plane was a steal for the money... had I known I would wait 10 months and still have no date on when i was to get an airplane, i would have spent twice the money and had an Oxai or something similar.
Glad you got yours, wish I had mine.

Uses around 120 mAH on a PO7, cf c50-60 electric.
But if you use a CF tube right through the top and bottom skins, it gives an approx 5 mm hole to access the interior, so enough room to get some reinforcement (eg epoxy/microballoons) around the tube and against the spar.

Heres a picture of my horn done as suggested, threaded horn is screwed between the laminate spar at the front of the aileron. Im running a YS so it takes a small beating and has held up through a few cases of fuel. I had a small crack start at the aileron cutout inboard corner so reinforced w/ some balsa, also shown.
Also you can fold the ailerons back like shown if you want to add a plate for the chip hyde style horns.

So Tom,
did you ever get your Abbra?
It shows pretty poor form to not deliver a model for nearly a year.
Then again I had some dealing with those folks and was not satisfied either. Kind of like cold soup. Man it could have been really good but when fast Eddie got to talking about it and telling me what I did wrong, well you know.
The result was I still had cold soup and the chef just kept yelling that it was fine.
To say the least it was nothing like the Soup Nazi's Soup. At least there you could take the abuse. My opinion of the Abbra is the quality is so so, the price was excellent. However like other things in this hooby too good to be true. Too bad he treats he customers like this.
Let me guess cashed your check in November of 2005 too. Yet no plane?

In the above picture the pivot point is clearly not over the hinge line . Is this a problem as long as they are the same on each side ? I had always thought they had to be over the hinge line to get equal throw up and down ?
