I have what I think is a mid to late 80's kitbash. It was plumbed for a YS61LS with the tank on the CG. I was thinking of shoehorning in a saito 125 and playing with the schedules. My question is can I run the tank on the CG with a perry pump or should I just move the tank up against the firewall. Here is some pics just incase one of you guys can identify it. I had no luck in the classic pattern section.

This plane is an Avanti designed by R/C city. I have one that is still flying today and it is a very stable flyer. I built it in the early 90's along with a Conquest 6 designed by Dave Patrick and also produced by R/C City.

Haven 't seen an Avanti for years... I had two of them and loved 'em! Wish I had never sold the last one I had, great flying airplane for the day.

Actually, I think that is an Avanti II (not sure if there was a III or not)... the first Avanti had the engine side mounted and either had the pipe running down the right side with a rear exhaust engine, or under the wing with a side exhaust, the II had a belly pan like that one.

Tom, I think you are correct, except I think the Avanti II had a straight trailing edge. The Avanti was basically an Aurora layout with a slightly different fuse and a straight trailing edge to improve stall characteristics. My son Chris competed with one quite successfully (way back when). But like I said, I think the normal kit was straight trailing edge, not swept like the Aurora. And you are right, good flying plane!!! It would have been easy to sweep the wing tho with a little work on the center section before glueing

Good call on the wing... I had forgotten about that. The fuse definitely looks like an Avanti II though... the wing was probably bashed like you said to make it look more like the Aurora.
That takes me back though... I remember getting that Avanti II back in the early days of R/C City... Tell Jim what engine and what retracts, and he would build it up for I think around $350 to an ARC level... Might have been slightly more than that, but not by much... Wow, how times have changed.

Lotus, sorry I didnt see it in the other forum. I didnt realize that my plane know had an Identity. If I am reading correctly I have an Advant II with a wing that has a swept trailing edge to look like an Aurora. I think I get some vinal and call it an Aurante. Thanks for putting your heads together and figuring it out. I am going to put a OS91 or a YS91-110 in it and fly some sportsman with it.

Gents - thanks for all the info on the Avanti II. I just picked up an Avanti II from an auction and am excited about flying it. I'm planning to use a Super Tigre .91 2 Stroke motor and have been told a 12x8 or 13x8 would keep it nice and fast.
