After 190 flights, the ES composites landing gear on my Brio is starting to delaminate on one leg. No fault of ES -- our field is thick grass that decellerates the plane like Velcro and really torques the legs.
I'd like to replace the gear with a new set, but can't find anybody that carries the 9.25" high version - "Type B". Central Hobbies only carries the 6.75" high version - "Type A". Central says that ES stopped making the Type B version. I left a call with the ES's answering machine but they're not returning.
So does anybody have an extra set of ES gear they'd be willing to sell? Or maybe suggest an alternative? I need something around 9" tall for prop clearance (E-power).
TIA,

I think they're made by Mr Mach in Czechoslovakia----Wolfgang Lorenz in Germany stocks them in lots of sizes (www.f3aLorenz.de on Google finds him).
Only problem (even from here) is payment---Herr Lorenz doesn't do cards or Paypal.

You tell him what you want, and he sends you an invoice by mail.
The invoice includes all his banking details. It is then easy to transfer money straight to his account, and he will ship once the money is through.
Done it several times, 100% reliability.

This is not really a problem.
Perhaps it depends on which country you're in, or which bank---but from here(UK), the bank charges are prohibitive for what amounts to pressing a few buttons in the transaction you describe-----------for something relatively small like a U/C it was more than 50% of the invoice price.

Derek,
I was looking for some tall gear myself and came across the Chief Aircraft website. They have alot of CF gear and if you click on the photo link it gives dimensions.

Check Troy Built models website they also sell Graph Tech gear and have more specs. Then look closely at weights. The Hanger Nine 27 Percent Extra is close but over 5 ounces! Have heard some rumors of delamination as well.
Have heard some positive about the Genisis E gear but good luck getting them.

Have heard some rumors of delamination as well.
Legs with unidirectional cloth,(along the long axis of the leg), like the Bolly or ES stuff, do better.
Just my experience, but the common ES patterns, with the little "reinforcing" bulge at the fus/leg angle do eventually start to crack near the bulge.
If you can afford the extra weight, and the mount plate/fus can take the extra shock loading, there are some legs on the Lorenz list, no. 544,which are rated nominally for 7Kg models, which are definitely more durable than the no.545,which are the usual ones supplied for electric flight with things like the Abbra or Leviosa.
They are around 160g as against 110 g, though, and have 20 mm less height---but still enough clearance for a 22" prop, on those models at least.
