yeah yeah yeah!!!! LOL

There is actually one other thing about that plane, see if you can pick it out. hey it took you guys all day long to figure out THAT one!!!

BTW, here's the "other" plane I built, Dean Funk (handglider) painted it. This plane will be at the nats....not sure if it'll be my primary or backup yet.

But Arch's plane has to be seen in person, pics don't do either one of these justice. perfect? no but whatcha want in a week?

Now there's a plane that's bringing some of the custom paint world into pattern flying! Awesome! I love it. Nice work on both of them.

Hey thanks guys, it was a labor of love (or something like that, at least I keep telling myself that)

I am really glad the "Fire Dragon" scheme I designed is being accepted as cool. it does push things over the top a bit,

thanks all,

dean

Bryan, thank you for your comments!

(Spoken by a WWF announcer)

AAAARRRRRRRREEEE YYYOOOOOOOOUUUUUU REEEEEEAAAADDDDDYYYYY TOOO RRRRRUUUUMMMMBLE?

When I designed this event, I absolutely was thinking about the work of Raiko Potter. In my opinion, Raiko is one of the most creative and talented modelers on the planet...here is his 2007 Concours d'Elegance entry.

Incredible...I am told the INSIDE is as detailed!

The inside is more incredible than the outside... if that's possible.

Just met Raiko a week or so ago and very glad to have done so. Great guy and the work he does is incredible

Yep I got to see that plane up close and personal last weekend. Good grief...the detail on that thing would make the Japanese bow!!! Seriously, the inside of that plane is nicer than the outside...even the engine compartment is severely detailed.

Nice work Raiko, that one is outstanding as usual!

And I want to (again) echo Bryan's sentiments, thank you Rusty for giving us something to shoot for. Your work is very much appreciated by us ALL.

It was defenetly a very nice design. One of the best I've seen, and the inside made me speechless.

FLY RC Magazine 2007 Concours d'Elegance

Congratulations to Raiko Potter "Champion" and Jeff Carter "Runner-Up"!

The competition was fierce with over (17) models being nominated for "Champion", (87) votes cast and Raiko Potter and his incredible "Impact" being selected as "Champion". Raiko's model featured dozens of fabricated details, creative control system innovation and an interior and exterior finish leaving one speechless. Raiko received a plaque and a $100 gift certificate from Central Hobbies.

Jeff Carter designed, fabricated, and finished his "Lightning" and flew the model very well in Masters class to take home the "Runner-Up" award which included a plaque and $50 Central Hobbies gift certificate.

I will post photos as they are available of these fantastic models.

Basic Set up

Aircraft: Lightning
Wings and stab are sheeted foam. Everything else is built up balsa

Power: Hacker C50 14XL
Mount: Budd in the front, home made in the back
Radio: Futaba 9Z WC2
Servos: Ailerons FUT 9150
Elevators FUT 9650 (2, stab mounted)
Rudder FUT 9151
ESC Hacker Masterspin 99
Prop: APC 21x14E
Propulsion Batteries: Thunder Power 5300 Prolites
Rx battery: Thunder Power 740
Gear: Bolly electric F3A
Spinner: truturn
Weight: 10 lb 14 oz

Finish:
Wings and stab were monokoted
Fusalage was glassed with West System and 3/4 oz glass cloth, and then painted with PPG Concept. Each color was wet sanded, then everything was clear coated, and hand rubbed with 3M compounds.

I designed the aircraft on TurboCad. I had 3 other aircraft I used as reference, the Partner, the Brio, and the Twister. For my first jump into scratch built, home design pattern planes, I am very happy with how it performs.
