Default L/G, to cut or not to cut

That is the question.

I've just bought a nice curvy set of Bolly landing gear legs, and I'm trying to figure out if I should cut them.

As it stands they're about 15mm (just over half an inch) too narrow for the fuse, but I figure I can fit some webs off the side of the fuse so that the legs appear to come out in the right spot.

Ooor, I cut them and spread them out the edges of the fuselage.

What's better?

I have cut lots of landing gear in order to fit the fuse width. Alumin., CF, FG, etc. Never sorry I did and it is the perfect time to put a bit of toe in in the gear and make it track better.

Here's an example of 1 of probably 5 I've done

If you decide to cut, install a small CF plate between parts to add strength if it's really needed.

cut and spread, then when attaching them to the fuse, put a "doubler" to support the gear as it flexs down like Kema suggested.

Another advantage to splitting the gear is that if you rip it out in a hard landing there will be less/no damage to the pipe -- if you are using glow power.

What is the best and cleanest method to cut the Bolly gear in half? Do you then epoxy the cut ends to maintain the fibers?

Just use CA glue for the edges.

Cutting with a hack saw works.

Dremel is also handy.
