I have two of them and will by a third this winter. Once I learned how to set up the Mixture servo curve properly the second setup was easy. With the MC carb I can adjust the mixture in flight witch works great.
Im flying the Ultra RC Evelutiion With the Webra 160. Currently building the Focus II with the same engine. I fly with 2 other guys who have the same setup. Dale Aronald has been winning with ths setup. I have done well in the last 3 contest.
I run the APC 17x12 Dale uses the APC 18.1x10
Muller custom header and ES tuned pipe. I run 10 % cool power , Dale runs 20% with 2 head shims.

I don't think they stock the complete engine there, Torben. Just the parts.
I suppose you could buy all the parts and build a Webra like a kit.
It's a funny place, Central.
They don't have any kit airplanes, just ARFs and they don't have any built Webras, just kits.

Latest issue of Model Aviation carries a Webra ad saying engines available in North America from Swift Electronics [link=http://][/link] , but when I punch that up I get no connection. I'm sure they're there in Winnipeg, but ... unavailable at the moment?

Is anybody still importing the Webra 1.60?
The Webra website shows them still manufacturing both the 1.60 and the 1.45.
I suppose you could order from the factory or find a European distributor.
I think they're excellent engines, they just don't seem to have the 'visibility' here in the USA pattern scene.

Besides a bunch of fellows tried setting the Webras up when they first became available around 2000-2001 and had trouble finding the sweet spot. They tended to run them lean and things broke easily and didn't work right. The bad reputation they got from some vocal people was probably not deserved.
I have always found them fairly easy to set up.... pretty powerful engines that swing big props at very useful rpm. I own 4 in both 145 and 160 flavors. I have found the TN carb to be a bit coarse in adjustment, requiring fiddling when temperature drops or increases 10 degrees or so. They are not set and forget types such as YS or gassies.
I wish Perry made an aluminum body carb because some of the best, most consistent running was obtained with a Perry carb. The body of the perry carb is plastic and distorts enough to bind

There's a lot of power to be extracted from the Webras.
But you have to use a perry pump to replace the backplate pump because it gets too hot.
And you have to add head shims to take the nitro.
And even the MC carb is not as consistant as it should be.
Maybe what we need is a big Dynamix for it!

Matt-
Jim Woodward gave me a couple of Perry carbs to try and I figured it was a wash between them and the MCs. I got a lot of Webra intelligence from Jim and Dave Lockhart and the Perry pump was a big step forward.
Still, I seem to learn something new about the Webras every six months or so. In my Ultra Stik test plane a Webra 160 will run like a clock, but I can't get the consistent idle in my pattern planes. Is it the fact that it's mounted on it's side or that the mount isn't as soft?
Hmmm. Dave was mounting his motor control servos right on the engine mount.

I've run UAV Bully engines for years (I still have another new 1.45) which were basically Webra engines with a 2-plug head and I believe UAV carbs and pumps. The engines always ran flawlessly for me. I wonder if putting an old Bully pump/carb on a Webra would work?? I do own 2 Webra 1.45s, but I've never run them. I hope they continue to be available here in the US.

I've had contact with Webra in Austria asking about availability of engines and parts. They did not give me the name of a new supplier since Horizon has dropped the 160. However, they did say they would sell me the engine and parts direct. Unfortunately, with the current exchange rate the engine ran about $650.00 US, and a piston and sleeve ran $211.00 US. To me this is way too high. So I guess we have to wait and see if another distributor in this country picks them up.

I had also looked at getting a webra 160 from Europe but the price is too high (prove me wrong). I can get a YS for the same or a OS 2 stroke for less.
