Default YS61 LS - airframe?

In my search to find an entry level into pattern flying that I could afford, I came across a new YS61 long stroke at the right price. I know this engine is a bit dated now, but I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to best it up. What sort of mount is best?

Now, I have to choose an airframe. How would this engine go in the Swallow EX? I've read about all its problems, and would strengthen the fuse up as suggested. How would the YS61 power this airframe? Any other suggestions for a cheap airframe (I've been looking for a second hand Slingshot here in Australia, but no luck).

Thanks,

Steve

I ran my YS .61 with a Hatori 650 pipe set 18" from the first baffle in the pipe to the glow plug running 10% fuel, Rossi R7 or 8 plugs and APC 12X12 or 12X13 props. Use any mount you are comfortable with as these are smooth running engines. I've run them on the mounts that were nothing more than an aluminum plate bolted to the back plate on the engine with four lord mounts, hard mounted directly to the firewall and a home made mount made out of two aluminum rails with rubber surrounding the mounting lugs of the engine.

I can't answer the airframe questions, but the last model I flew with this engine was an R/C City Cursor back in '91.

JWN gave some good advice. 12*13 or 12*12 may be a bit much on 10% nitro. More nitro or a 12*11 would be the answer. For an airframe I would look for the plans for a Loaded Dice or Gitano. My .61 plane was a Eureka designed by the Irish champ is memory serves.

I ran the 12X12 and 12X13 props on 10% nitro for nearly two years. I never saw a reason for more nitro. The engine turned these props at nearly 9500 RPM all day long and the performance was outstanding with excellent transistion.
