Hey George,

Man that thing looks cool! I know you must miss your old Focus and if you really need to I'll trade you.
By the way the old bird is flying real good.

Dean,

You are on the list As soon as I get this one out of the way, I will get yours and everyone elses kits ready. Sorry, just not enough time to do both right now.

I have worked on the fillets on the vertical fin.

I weighed the fuse without the canopy and chin cowl and it is 24.9oz. Not stellar, but I don't think it's too bad considering that the servo plates are in, the tank mounting is done, landing gear plate is in with blind nuts, firewall, nose ring (hard former) and the deps are in. With the canopy and chin cowl on, the weight is 29.2oz.

Hey Mark,

The EVO looks great, really like how easy you made the fin fillet, too easy, that is the hard to get right sometimes. I like how your built up the fillet in the front there, very nice.

looking great man !

I've been sanding on the fuse, but I also glassed the center section of the stab (joined halves) and did a dry fit through the fuse. It fit without any trouble. It will be installed after the fuse is finished (painted). Compared to the tail section on the original Pentathlon, the Evo tail looks quite different. The front canopy and nose shape is slightly altered from the original.

I know it's been a good while...but the first Pentathlon Evo is finished and has flown.

Three quick flights today and everything seems fine. Flew through the P09 on the second flight...no problem

This hobby is simply full of great people:
Glass and Paint by Jim Sheffield
Monokote work - Mark Mendonca
Building help/advice - Richard Lewis
Richard Verano of YS parts and Service
Tarable Graphics - Archie and Tara Stafford

The Evo Specs:
Span 75"
Length 78.5"
Weight 9lbs 13oz
Futaba
YS

Kit info. will be updated soon on my webpage.

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

Looks great. Can't wait to see it in person. Great job on the plane and getting it that light. I bet it is just crazy powerful with a 1.70 in the nose of it.

Probably would be great on a 170DZ.....but it's still plenty on the 160DZ that's in it....

I got to fly it for a minute or so...WooHoo. I think it's gonna be really good one. The wing plan form and apsect that Mark uses is well suited to the lighter weight of this design and even though it is really light on the controls, it's not touchy or jumpy.

I mentioned it was quite visible in the air and we did get one in-flight photo. Enjoy.

You might have a little too much pitch judging by the picture. Keeping it in the box is gonna be tough..

mt,

If you can send me the info. on what motor you plan to use, I can send you a template for a new firewall and nose ring former.  There is a 3/8" thick balsa ring on the front of the nose ring former that may have to also be changed out for something thinner depending on the electric motor...
