Default Nose Ring and Hyde Soft Mount

Hi guys,

I want to reduce a thrust line movement on my Ultimate 120 with Saito 125. I have Hyde Soft Mount Type HCMYS110A, which does not require a nose ring.
I want to make a nose ring and its supporting frame by myself.

I have a question regarding a position of nose ring

1. The nose ring is holding a not moving part of the engine just before the drive washer.
2. The nose ring is holding a rotating part of the engine - strait above a drive washer gap ring.

Which statement is correct?

If statement 2 is correct one more question.
Does a nitro fuel tube, I'm going to use as a rubbing material inside the nose ring, supposed to touch the rotating drive washer (when engine is not working). If no what is a gap?

Any advise is appreciated.

Thx

#1 will be the correct place. Looks like you will need to file the front part of the fins to get the space. Good luck,

Well, looking closely you have the cam housing also. I am not sure if you have enough space there to fit the nose ring. If you mount does not require nose ring I sugges not to install nose ring. Is the mount very old?

I've just bought it. Nothing to do during Winter time and that idea came to my mind. May be you right, just leave it how Hyde said - "Type A doesn't require a nose ring".

OK. I got the impresion that you were having problems. I am using one Hyde mount of the same type in a DA100. More than 200 flights in that plane with no problems. You need to look for another project and leave the mount alone.

Good luck,

VB

Thanks to everyone who participated in this discussion,
I think the topic is closed. No nose ring is gonna be placed on HCMYS110A mount.
