RE: NEUTRINO - NEW F3A PROJECT FROM GREECE
Alex Voicou ,you look like the right person to draw the fuse front side and wing and stab tips !
It will take some time for me to draw those ,my 3d modelling experience is limited.
Kiting the plane ?..wow I never actually thought about it ,in this case somebody else would have to make the leyups,I would never find the time to do it myself ,we´ll see how it goes ..
thanks
Elias

RE: NEUTRINO - NEW F3A PROJECT FROM GREECE
Hi alpback nice to hear from you through here ,thanks for the comments !
Alex from Russia ! Nice to hear from you ,I heard you are setling to Greece soon ,awsome !
I´ve seen Mandrikas plane in Ireland 2001 first time ,I was amazed by his techniques ,two pice fuse is really his thing definately . I remember his double former technique at the splitting point, propably will do something similar with the composite fuse.
Alum part is for several reasons ,First they had to be thin ,maximum 1mm because the inner part (rectangle) has to be as out as possible ,a couple of milimeters double the holding power of the tube ,I´m not sure if I explain this good.Plywood would have to be 2 or more milimeters thick .The other good about alum is that you dont need washers where the 3mm screws are.
Here is a drawing pic
Thanks Gregg !

this is a cool project... are the wings build up or foam balsa? what engine will go in this plane.

Hi Elias,
Thanks for your post on the Defiant thread. Your project is ultra cool and I'm really looking forward to seeing your progress and hearing reports on your first flights of your project. You're a very talented engineer. I wish I new CAD like you and Mark Hunt, you guys are over the top on what your doing. It's just great!!!
Todd

Hallo Alex
Thanks so much for the offer on the 3d drawings but it,s really not nessesary for that ,the prorotype is already ahead and I would need more time on the cnc mill ,a bit of hand shaping is not a problem on theese parts they are not critical ,
thanks for the offer !
Todd ,thanks for the comments man! I admire your work also with no cad ,but same result.
Here are some pics of the progress ,the steel plates ,also cnc cut with a punching machine, they are used as rulers for cutting the foam front parts

highfly3d, the fuse splits for transoprtation reasons, you can practicly fit a plane this size in a suitcase !
Thanks Dave !

Here are some more pics of the fuse progress ,the foam block was cut with hot wire using the steel formers.
The nose ring has the hacker motor mount predrilled.

My prev plane ,the Oxalys ,fetured a double setup .The front former could either hold a nose ring for the YS or a mount for the hacker that was cut out of stainless steel ,hatori heli silicon mounts isolated the motor. The rest pics tell the story of how the double setup worked .I could change my set up at the field in less than 20min and compare the setups with the rest of the variables virtually the same.

Did some progress on the wings and stab today .
Here is the stab tube (carbon 12x1mm) ,to make the tight sleeve I wraped the tube with some foil ,waxed it and wraped it with carbon sox.
All epoxy used through out the plane is aircraft grade baked at 60deg C.

also ,the fin airfoils cnc cut out of steel plates ,they are not true airfoils ,(never are) but they are as close as possible ,the variable of having to match the bottom part with the fuse makes the change.Perspective photo makes them look a bit ´fat´at the LE.

Also ,the canalizer has been machined ,I should have taken some pics during the process but[sm=confused_smile.gif]
here is a pic of the two halfs already joined ,if you look close you can see the toolpath passes just like the simulation ..
I love cnc machines !

Hallo
Thanks Dave and Bill !
Yasou Mavre !thanks for the comment ,you fly F3A there in OZ Greek buddy ?
Some small progres on the wing ,you can see the wing root airfoil is set with epoxy in position before the wing is cut and serves as a ruler for the cut as well .The tip foil is placed twice with double sided tape for cutting the two half wings.Sorry no CNC here
here is a pic.
