I am using the JR DS3421 SA digital mini's on dual elevator's, in one of my SPA planes, and on the Focus Sport, for dual elevator's. I am ready to build another F-Sport. JR says, these have been discontinued, I did find two this week at Central Hobby's.
I need advice, what to use in place of these. Reason for using, I followed Troy Newman's build on the Focus Sport.
Thanks,
Vince

I've just replaced two JR 3421sa elevator servos in my Leviosa,as an experiment, with two Savox SH1357s.
( 2.5Kg/cm,0. 07 secs/60degrees, at 6.0V).
My guess being that something like these might make all those snaps in F11 a little less trying...
The Savox servos are very similar in size to the JRs,just a very small enlargement lets them slot straight in.
They centre well, but the torque could possibly be a bit lowthey don't seem particularly fast in the airperhaps the Savox SH 1350 would have been better(4.6Kg/cm, 0.11secs/60degrees at 6.0V)

That sucks if it's true.
I just looked on FastServe and they didn't have the 3421SA but they did still have 3421's and they still have the SA gear sets for that servo. I'll send an e-mail today and ask what's going on.
However, from where I sit, you have two options. You can:
A. Use regular 3421's. My current airframes are a pair of PL Partners that I bought from Quique. These airplanes were last flown in 2003 at the Worlds, and at the time the SA servos were just being offered, IIRC. Consequently, these airplanes had regular, metal geared servos in them (9411's and 8411's). I have not had any trouble with the servos in their metal geared form, however one could argue that the repeated beating from a four-stroke could cause them to go. I just replaced my servos in one airplane just to replace them, and while the new servos, which are the SA variants, feel tighter, I didn't notice any appreciable slop in the gear train on the old servos.
B. If you can afford the weight, 9411's. These, according to FastServe, are still available in the SA version, so if you desire nylon gears, this would be the way to go. They are roughly 3/4 oz heavier per servo over the 3421 if you're not familiar with them. I actually am running 9411's on my elevators and ailerons, on the Partner that I'm currently flying.
I hope this helps you some, and I'll get an answer back from Horizon- they're an hour behind me, so they're not open yet.

Thanks for info Ryan. I am using the DS9411SA's in the wing's. Using the Hyde mount, YS110DZ, latest (last ),one, with a nose ring. The YS110 is being replaced by a 115, may be here December, according to Central, no promise's. Looks like using the metal gear 3421 with the Hyde should do fine. I did not ask Central, except they may have more of the DS3421SA's in stock, just sent me two, I will check for more.
I have their mail from 10/1, advising me that servo is not available anymore.

Last I looked, ALL of the SA servos were gone, not just the 3421. You can still buy the metal geared versions and replace all but the output gear with the plastic versions. I imagine their market was very small for these variants.

Vince (and all),
Things have been rather busy around Horizon and I didn't want to pester with something that wasn't super important, however the 3421SA and the rest of the SA line of servos for that matter have been discontinued like Jon said. This is due to diminishing sales and the need to slim down the JR line some. I'm just as sorry as everyone else to see this happen, but at least we know.

I just bought a pair of 3421 and converted them to 3421SA's by replacing all of the metal gears except the main output gear with nylon gears for a JR 321 servo. The nylon gears are 3.95 a set and you get two sets of gears in one package. Little bit of a hassle and a few more dollars, but if you really want a 3421SA (I did), it's still possible. As I understand it, the other SA servos can also be created the same way but I didn't have any problem finding the 9411SA and 8411SA. I believe the nylon gear set for the 9411 is the 911 and the 8411SA would be the 811 gear set. You can also get the whole SA gear set which includes the alloy output gear but they cost quite a bit more.

What do you guy think about the DS378 ??

Is it too small? It is metal gear. I wish Horizon to have a plastic gear for it.
I got a bunch of DS3517 to use on Brio, but DS378 has more torque and is lighter.
