2 x 2 1/4 spin from inverted......

Hi
Aside from the dreaded figure-M, the manouvre from P11 I struggle most with is the 2 x 2 1/4 spin from inverted.
The first part is fine - spin entry and stop after 2 1/4 turns. I never release the (down) elevator, and manage to switch spin direction with rudder and a bit of ailerons.
In the second 2 1/4 spins, the plane rotates much faster - to the degree that it is hard to make a controlled stop.
I use lot of elevator throw, a bit less of rudder and very little aileron.
What am I doing wrong here? How do you all fly this to maintain the same rotation speed in both directions?

That's funny, as mine does the opposite, first 2 1/4 are ok, then swap directions and it's like slow motion spinning by comparrison!

What it sounds like to me is that your airplane is coming out of the spin and just doing 2 and 1/4 snaps on the way down? That could be in part why its going so fast on the second spin.
On my spark I us all the rudder I have, 10 degrees of elevator, and 10 degrees of aileron in the spin. The rudder gives you the nice cone in the spin, using the ailerons for the spin I think is a must to get the stop and start of the second spin. They reversal will have to be immediate as the airplane will pick up to much speed and snap into the other spin. The same holds true on the slow rotation of the spin, this is usually caused by not enough aileron and to much rudder.

A problem I have is the nose kicking upwind as I enter the second spin. This results is a spin with an angled trajectory.
I try to hang onto the rudder a bit when exiting the first spin in order to get the nose straight down. However, it seems like the rudder reversal going into the second spin kicks the nose out. I need to spend more time on it and try to go soft or delayed into the rudder reversal, but I'm at the limit of my coordination.

I use 1 flightcondition for spinn and on my old plane I made a setup for both directions.
try that!
I have 3 conditions #1 normal 2# spinn 3#snapproll

Dan,
What it sounds like is that your getting into the rudder to soon for the second part of the spin. Try and go into the second spin and lead with a little more aileron.

I think you're spot on with the snapping, and also with more rudder throw.
When I tried my Xigris with the T-canalizer on, the spins improved - suggesting that more rudder will improve matters.
I'll try experimenting with my spin condition this afternoon.

The spins improved with more rudder and a bit less elevator. I also suspect the CG is a bit to far forward, which maybe is contributing to the (very) nose down spin angle.
I'll experiment more and report back [8D]
