Hey Jarvis, like how I snuck into the pics of the winners, right place at right time, lol. It was a great contest and great way to get out of the AZ heat for a weekend into those coooooool temps in San Diego.

Thanks to Bill Wallace and the guys at Mira Mar Flyers for a great contest. Here are some of the picks I took. These were taken Sat. A.M. before wheels up and you can see how cold and overcast it was. It turned nice, if a bit windy, in the afternoon. Sunday was more of the same, except the sun came out a little sooner, and not as much wind. . . Beautiful!

Thanks for posting the pictures dave and Jarvis. It was a fun contest, the support given by the Miramar Club was fantastic. I hope this becomes an annual event. Now if I can just remember which sequence I am flying, I may have a shot at Jarvis, LOL........

Steve,
You know you want to fly Masters so you don't have to judge it again! lol
Jarvis, thanks for the pics! Good to see them as some great memories were made there! A huge thanks to the Mirimar club/members for letting us use their beautiful facility and providing us with everything that it takes to put on a great contest. For a first pattern contest, they sure were pro's at holding one! Good job!
Also, it was awesome to see the support from the IMAC guys! You are all a fun bunch of guys, and it appeared that you all had a blast! Nice to meet all of you from the area that I don't know! Nice people!

Yes Chris, those things that move along the ground, that bite. So if your plane went down out there, you had to take someone with you
and a cell phone. " Just In Case". Bill Wallace did a outstanding job, CDing the contest, an things moved along as planed. I would like to thank
the Mira Mar flying club for the use of there field the weekend. Those guys are top notch. here is a list of club member that help support
the Top Gun Classic. Robin Solomon( cooked the food for lunch both days),Mark Lukens ( Line Boss) Jerry Nuebergen ( Club Pres.)
Tom Phan ( Photographer, that guy do a hell of a job with the picture) and other club members that help support the contest.Ed Hess,
Darren Hauptman, George Sager,Bruce Keller, Eric Sacco, Ron Peterka, richard Brant and Dennis Teason, thanks guys. Hope to see
you guys next year

Great pictures Jarvis, but the one with the so-called squiggle line was interesting? What was it to represent?

Hey!!! Alright!!! this was my first aerobatic contest ever....
totally low pressure, laid back atmosphere.... are all pattern contests like that??
the wind definitely made my Balsa Overcast bobble and swerve.....
but apparently fun was had by all... and other than one dead stick (Minor damage).. I saw no casualties...
I need a smokin deal on a big pattern plane!! :O

Hi Mike
this was a pretty typical contest. You'll find them to be pretty laid back affairs compared to the noisy/hectic IMAC affairs..LOL. The pressure comes totally from within. You'll find that you'll end up putting pressure on yourself to succeed. Pattern is all about personal goals and performance targets. Competition enters in for sure but you are always battling your own limitations......

PM me if you are interested. I know you may not be looking for nitro, but out there in the High Desert you probably have all kind of places to fly. Were you the guy flying the Funtana?
