Abbra 's dealer in Europe is Modelltechnik-lorenz. He has only few pictures.
I 'm looking for a second plane . I already have a cocaine with a Yamada 160 Dingo
weight 4560 g, APC 17x12 with 25% nitro. Very very good plane. Just a little mix rudder / elevator. No mix rudder / wings. It's not very expensive in Europe 1000 euro painted in mould etc etc.. Znline or PLF (it's replaces PLProd) patterns are more expensive when finished (about 4500 to 7000 euro without mecanism and radio).
Yours pics are very nice. I found some others pics on this web site at the AMA National 2005 and 2 pics at St Yan WC 2005. Last pic is my Cocaine

Few pictures from the recent F3A Czech championships, where Jaroslav competed with one new Abbra. Powered by the new Czech outrunner (HiRotex) and PolyQuest 2500s (2p), the power was quite impressive.

For those interested in electrics,they now offer the Elexant which is the same as the Abbra but top loading for the packs.

Well the Elexant is a bit different - the canopy moved a bit forward plus some cosmetic changes.
Flies very well too - mine was 3rd at the Czech champs.

Thanks for the photos. I just got back from a visit to Prague. Enjoyed your city very much. It would have been nice to see you and your friends and to see my Abbra being built but time was limited. Keep us informed about F3A activity in your area because it sounds like you folks are on the leading edge.

A few picks of Abbra at the Springfield Missouri Contest. Owners are Pat Hewitt for the ZDZ powered one and Vincente Bortone pictured with his OS 1.60 powered plane. Wish the wait for them were shorter.

The ZDZ powered one performed quite well and seemed to have very constant speed and a lot of vertical, as did the OS powered one.

Mike, thats the gas version without the pants. I didnt ask but just guessing its to save a few grams.

I know at the NATS most people dumped wheel pants to save weight. If they were just an oz or two over 11lbs, they could get under by taking off the wheel pants.

Yeah that's what I figured but now I see guys doing it like it's a new trend. Man there isn't anything worse looking to me than a dog ugly pattern plane (like the Focus) without pants. Mike

Hi guys.
I've got one of these on order from the distributor in Germany.
I'm a bit worried,seeing the photos in Mr. Young's post,seeing the apparently wide-open access from the pipe tunnel into the main fuselage interior.
Being something of a pessimist, I can envisage doom scenarios where the canopy departs in flight,or the fus explodes, or something equally expensive.
Please could someone provide some reassurance?

... we changed the name to EL Tiburon (comes from Spanish and means: winner type). It is the same model. Our testpilots don`t like the name abbra, so we changed.

For european flyers, I just saw the Abbra advertised as "Scalar 3" on the german website http://www.paf-flugmodelle.de/Scalar/scalar3.htm (Peter Adolfs Flugmodelle). Price there is close to 1'000 Euro.

Actually it means "shark", but I don't like it any better than "ABBRA"... ;-)

I am flying a Showtime with a EVO 26 and full pipe.
Tho this is not an ABBRA - this combo of a gasser and a pattern design (look at the Showtime before you scoff) is excellent.
power is truly VTO-on Skoerpa 17x8 prop -(looks like a wooden Mejzlic)
very quiet - extremely smooth one flip starts and 10 ounces of fuel plenty for full flight.
I also ran a ZDZ40 and pipe - more power -on bigger plane and also more viberation -which we now solved by a carb swap to a Walbro model 201-which has much different metering
Also did a ROTO 25 on Skoerpa pipe and 17" prop again extremely smooth running etc..
Why more people have not caught on to these combos is really a puzzle.
I am not new to the "needs of a pattern design" - these setups really work.

Walbro 76- and in most instances -it works just fine
But the Walbro 201 -primes (chokes) much more quickly -why I simply have not figured out--and has the low /high spray holes located differently .
It takes a couple of mods to use -
swap vented cover with 76 cover and drill a tiny hole thru where it is marked and plugged at the engine gasket . This lets the engine pulse directly operate it.
I find it adjusts more easily -low and high speed - strts and restarts more easily.
This is really NOT necessary to swap -if your existing carb is working well - I have a 76 on my 50 and it is a one flip setup .
But a 40 I have been working with -which first had a Bing - then the 76 -was always a pain to fire up- swapping to this carb - fixed it instantly. and idle can be set lower-smoother.
The new ignition - I really don't see any difference in running them except -they do save rpm from in flight and if you spring for th new ZDZswitch and a tach (total 80 bucks) you can directly read the engine and read the saved in flight top rpm.
I have a switch now for each engine and I do any tach reading directly - which to me is a huge advantage in doing setups .
I am REALLY fussy about carbs -
Why?
every time I find any engine which is hard starting -but good running -it is always the fu--n carb.
There are a jillion permutations of each bore size and I don't know how the engine guys eventually get the right one -unless they pay thru the nose for special calibration tests.l
