Widebody 60 question

Is there enough room to get a YS 110 in the Widebody 60? With a Hyde mount?
thanks

Tom,
If you haven't flown one yet they fly great. I've got one I need to finish that I
originally planned on putting a YS 1.10 with a Hyde mount in but the 1.10 is now
going in my 2nd Excelleron so it looks like the Widebody will get a MVVS .91 also
with a Hyde mount (same bolt spacing as the YS). You're going to like it.

RE: Widebody 60 question

I have a 110 in mine and it fits in ok, but I'm using a more standard mount. I glued blocks infront of the bulkhead for the cowl to screw into, that gave me a little extra space to put it in. Its a very good combo though, very powerful motor. Mine came in slightly above 7.5 pounds and could be built lighter.

rwlewis had a wb60 w/ the YS110 and hyde mount...sport muffler just outside the cowl....

man, I miss that plane....and it wasn't even mine!

I miss mine too! It was the best flying 60-90 sized pattern plane I have ever flown, in my book it had no equal. I don't know about the infinity, leo or excelleron, but the WB 60 was hands down the closest thing I've ever flown to a 2 meter plane without being a 2 meter plane!

Stupid power line. May she rest in pieces...

yep yep

Mine has 25 flights and I can't imagine flight without it. Mine is 7.1 lbs with a 91 FX and it is a real fighting machine. When you find yourself thinking about ordering another one just in case, then you must like it.

What size spinner and MK bellcrank does it take?

RE: Widebody 60 question

tph1,

I'm almost finished with a WB 40. I used the small MKD bellcrank. Having seen the WB 60, I would guess the larger one for it. I think there are only 2 sizes.

The MKDs are heavy and expensive. Does anyone know of a better company or a place that has them at decent prices?

RE: Widebody 60 question

I fitted the smaller Mk driver and it just about fit so the bigger one would be better. I didn't get enough throw though for 3D flying so I used two mini servos in the tail instead.

RE: Widebody 60 question

How much torque did the mini's have Robert? What size spinner did you use?
thanks

I'm just got my kit to the covering stage but the spinner I used is 2 1/4 inch and it's a perfect fit with the cowl

RE: Widebody 60 question

I'm using 3102's on each elev. So far they are holding up fine but I have yet to really push them. Jr 3421's (I think thats their number) would also be good choices.

RE: Widebody 60 question

OK thanks, what size spinner did you use, 2.25"?
thanks

robert 01-30-2005 10:25 AM

RE: Widebody 60 question

I don't have a spinner but I think its 2.5

OK thanks

Robert,

What limited your MKD bellcrank throws? From the installation (and not hooked up yet) it appears that I can get more than 45 degrees up and down. Mine is about 1/3 the fuselage distance from the tail.

tph1 01-31-2005 04:48 AM

RE: Widebody 60 question

Does the 60 size take the bigger belcrank?

MHester 01-31-2005 10:25 AM

RE: Widebody 60 question

Yes the 60 size takes the large size bellcrank. It fits like a glove , it will be slightly forward of the stab LE a couple of inches. Works like a charm.
