Misc notes.
Wheel pants, carbon spinner, alum wing/stab tubes 7/8", 7/16, wing/stab adjusters, 2 piece carbon gear measures about 7" come with it. Canopy, chin bolt on with 2 4-40 bolts w/dowels in rear. All hinged surfaces are center beveled. Wing adjusters need to be installed, stab adjusters are preinstalled. I'll post some weights later.

My first Genisis has the YS 140 DZ in it and ended up weighing 10lbs 6oz. I am putting the second one together now,
and it should be about the same weight.

Here's some weights I worked up for a Hacker 14xl setup. 77 hackermaster esc, 22x12, 10s3p prolites 6000mah. I've substituted pbg carbon tubes, and have the 9" carbon gear Central hobbies selling. Leaves me about 10oz to play with for wiring, motor mount, batt mount, misc. Might be close but I think it looks good to make 11lbs.

how wide is the fuselage near the wing seat and at the rear tail post is the genisis ? I am just trying to compare it to the eclipse. Thanks for any information

5 7/8" at wing tube, 1 1/4" widest at bottom of tail post. I can get you some more fuse pics later. Bench is covered with wings, stabs right now.

Todd..... Maybe another motor with less cells would work well, and keep the total weight down, this would have the second advantage of not requiring as much money to get performance. my limited experience has been that most people grossly overpower their electric models...either to " impress the glo guys" ( which it doesn't)
or just because they can, and hang the cost. I don't know who does your calculations, but what if you calculated your stall speed, then use a pitch speed of 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 times the stall speed?
You likely will find that you can get much more thrust than the model weighs, adequate speed, and cut the cost and weight factor way down on your power system. Aerobatics is not really speed related,within reason, so who cares if your model is not super fast ( 90 mph??) most don't fly that fast anyway, maybe if the max speed was about 55 or 60 mph. but the thrust was over 12 pounds ???

This plane gets better every time I fly it. The rolling manuvers are unbelivable and the up and down lines are perfect.
Also the speed of the plane is perfect up and down.

Todd,

After seeing how well Bryan's, Stephen's and your Genesis flew at the Jetero contest, I have decided I got to have one. I am planning on the electric version and would use my Hacker C50 14XL motor and TP6000 10s3p Gen II Light batteries.

Question - what is the typical final weights of the electric Genesis?

Also I need some fresh ideas on battery and elevator installations. Please post some photos.

Does anyone have any updated information on the Genesis? Any problems since building or flying?

Anyone have any direct comparisons with the Impact? I have been looking at both and the long thread here on RCU covers the Impact pretty well. Definately a few concerns from reading the thread although obvioulsy many have had good success with it.

There is a significant cost difference, for those who have experience with both is the quality/prefabrication worth the difference (in your opinion)?

Hi! Might also be getting the Genisis soon. What does the ARF glow version come with? Does it come with a hyde mount and all the necessary control linkages? If so, what kind of control lingkage? Thanks.

I just received my semi-kit. It is not even in the ARC form, just the fuselage, sheeted wings, elevators, and rudder, and minor parts. Something that struck me is the lack of carbon fiber / kevlar / other exotic fibers. My plane is 100% fiberglass, even the firewall is glassed balsa (my Eclipse had a carbon fiber firewall) Plane will powered by a Webra 1.60. Futaba servos for the surfaces (9550 ailerons, 9651 elevator, 9450 rudder) plus a Hitec 81 for throttle (no fancy MC carb here...)

I am thinking of getting rid of the pipe floor (again glassed balsa). Do you guys think the exposed pipe will transmit too much heat to the inside of the plane?

Hello all,

is there a Genesis kind owner that can measure wing airfoil thickness at the root and at the tip?

Just for curiosity and to do some comparison with the plane I'm building. From the pictures it seems quite thin... Also, wing trailing edge thickness? CPLR style (8mm!!!) or less?

I used the hyde control horns from Central Hobbies, and for the elevator I used 2 servos under the rudder,
mounted to the pipe floor with the carbon pushrod set from Central Hobbies

I would leave the pipe floor in, and for the motor mount just use a lite-ply ring behind your motor mount
to keep the blind nuts from pulling through the balsa firewall. That is how I did it on my ARF Genesis
and it works great. My Genesis ARF with a DZ 140 weight 10.7 oz RTF with NI-Cads

Has anyone used retracts on a Genesis ?....at our field retracts last longer & are less of a hassel...I'm building from kit....do you think I should extend the wing joiner so that the wings would be able to take the extra stess of the landing?[:o]....how far forward of the wing joiner should I put the wheels:eek:

It is hard to tell from the picture but are those elevator pushrods supported? Any reason for switching from servos in the stab with a short connecting rod to this setup?

The servos are Futaba 9650's the same as I used in the stab on the glow verson.
The reason for the servos in fuse is some of the of the genesis did not have the
cut outs in the stab for the servos, so it was easier to mount them in the fuse.
The pushrods are supported in the fuse, here is a pic a little blurry but I think you will get the idea.

how did you mount the two 9650 in that position? I see from pictures that these servo have supports for side mouting: how can insert the servo in his hole with those supports? Have you cut them??? ;P

I cut the side mounts off and used 1/16 ply to hold the mounting screws on the bottom of
the floor
