And here is the rudder horn being glued in. I taped off the area around it to keep the glue from getting everywhere. And the finished product. And don't mind my Dremel skills...

What a really kool snap. Now I know HOW you get 'em to fly so good....you beat the hell out of 'em.
Reminds me of scene in the movie Splash where the main character is stuck in a tiny boat in the middle of a sea with the boat's owner. The outboard won't start so the owner pulls out a hammer, starts beating the engine and sez...."I can fix it....I'm mechanical". Really funny Jaz ORIGINAL: JAS Lance, Those are weights as I pulled parts out of the box. Don't forget, the fuselage has a bunch of stuff already installed, and is only missing a rudder/tank/batt/rx tray. The OS weight is including all the parts with a * next to it. Hyde mount, header and pipe. It looks like we probably will change the canopy to a solid composite one to save about 3ozs or so. My list also includes a heavy back plate spinner, a 24oz tank (using a 20) and other than a 2-cell Lipo, I'm not doing anything to make it lighter. I want basic, everyday numbers. Anyone that spends some time with it I'm sure will make it lighter. 9.75lbs... maybe with work, my prediction is 10-10.25lbs. I'm not really a builder ;), I think I can hold my own, but I could easily be way off on my predictions. Jason |

It would probably save close to 3ozs. I am missing a rudder/tank/Rx and Batt tray along with the couple little things from below for a final weight. Then I'm sure there are some odds and ends to, but it looks like about 10-10.25lbs. If anyone can think of something to add to the weight list, let me know. Not much to look at differently. I'll finish taking pics this week of the plane and final install. Here's a couple of the nose ring, Hyde mount and Hatori pipe mount. And Matt... I'll sell ya anything you want. Peter... see my weight prediction ;)

I have noticed from pictures posted on the ZNline website (Integral Build) that the model in those photos has CF reinforcing in the nose section while the model Jason is assembling has balsa. Are there going to be 2 versions of the same model with different material specs. What is the marketing approach. I am aware that ZNLine make a builders version which I assume would be based on their typical material (CFG fuse and Foam/Balsa wings) The pictures on the ZN site are definetely Comp-ARF manufacture if you look at the wings and seam line on the fuse. Hi JP,
Keeping an eye on Jason's and your build threads as I have several pre-orders for this model. I did notice in your pics that it looks like you have used a ball link setup on the stab phenolic horn. This is not recommended as this material is extremely strong in a 'straight' direction but does not like twisitng forces that a ball link would put on it. I strongly suggest you change the ball link to a clevis. Kind regards, Mark |

I should add that with well over a 100 flights on one of my electric powered Impacts there is absolutely no slop when using a Tetra clevis into the Composite ARF phenolic horns.
I doubt this would be the case with an oily power source though! Malcolm |

I have been flying on OTOP noe for the past two years, and have used ball links on the clevis, and the servo horn. without any porblems. just my .02 cents.
