Wood support
Hi everybody,
It's a long time I'm searching for these famous Japanese wood support. For me they are the safest and best looking I ever see ;) you know these one ;) http://rosa.web.infoseek.co.jp/pitnotomo3.html I tried to contact them, no answer ![:o] or http://www.flighthobby.jp/cgi-local/..._id=38&disp=on Anyway second one is way too expensiveand some years ago they told me, they didn't export outside Japan. Who will be able to produce these wood support (same shape and quality) at a decent price in Europe or USA. (allez JP SVP) Don't say Papini in Italy, he's not answering at all.[&o] Thk's for cooperation |
RE: Wood support
That's a slick set up. Seems to me that the first set of pics should be enough to build your own, sized appropriately to fit your aircraft. Nothing fancy there, once the concept is sorted. Just some 1/4" plywood, a few fasteners and a bit of piano hinge will do the trick.

RE: Wood support
Yes mmattockx,
nothing special for the wood itself and that will be my latest option if I don't find it on the web. I'll try first with strong paper to verify geometry and functionality. Also did you ever tried to glue some "isolation rubber" on wood. It's never working. |
RE: Wood support
Yes I knew this one, But It's not as "compatible" as the japanese one. Also the thickness of the rubber is quite different.

No problem Boysnake ! I'll do
Hi Gerrie. I had a quick look on the hobbynet website from up to down left to right NOTHING. Anyway thk's for the adress. It's a long time I'm looking for these products. My point of view: why spend thousands of $ in a wonderful Japanese ARF if you don't spend some $ to protect them when you assemble the A/C or start the engine. Also with this stupid thing A/C will never move into yours legs if you have no helper. So I'm ready to spend a reasonable price. The problem if you do it yourself, will be a "lot" of retro-engineering to have, I think, an average copy. (not the good soft material, greometry not as good, loosy assembly, ...). I'm also bored to do one support for each A/C, taking place in my workshop and destroying fuselage, wings, ... when moving in my car. Some already tried, look there : http://www.raoulpapini.it/news.htm "IL PORTAMODELLO" I think soft material is too thin, they will destroy LE and anyway they don't answer.... Keep in touch Laurent |
RE: Wood support
Hi Laurent
I agree 100%, why try and reinvent the wheel ? , our pattern friends in Japan are skilled craftsmen and when it comes to pefection without having to struggle -they are ahaed. Pattern standards are usually diffycult to reach, so if you want to drive a Ferarri be prepared to pay for the pryvilage. E-mail them -see if they can help-I had good resonse from them when I needed some hard to find pattern items Good luck Gerrie |
RE: Wood support

Wood Support AKA...stands to start your motor and hold your model.
I received a few photos from Raiko Potter's, model airplane "stylist" extraordinaire, new model stands and they look very nice. Raiko has taken the functionality of the Japanese solutions and added his unique flair. It is my understanding that he will have a very detailed "Signature" version as well as a value priced version. Based on the current currency exchange rate and shipping to the US, Raiko's will be quite inexpensive for their quality and design. One detail is the padding material he has sourced for the cradle edges. The primary function of a stand of this design is to relieve the pressure and stress from the conventionally used devices which capture the tail. Personally, much of my practice is by myself using a very quality product from J & L of Wisconsin which captures the stabilizer. I will post pictures of Raiko's solution as they are available. RE: Wood support
Thk's Rusty,
you know English is not my primary language, I'm still doing some mistakes, or use the wrong word. You captured exactly my concern about tail systems or poor designed stands. "Safety first" like we say in my company and after the flight they say "let's go pub mate" Its quite difficult to write with Irish accent:). I'll be happy to see your pictures. Rgds Laurent |
RE: Wood support
Hi everybody,
That' a wonderful day ! Thank's to Hiro from starcraft and PAPAONE Claude. I've been able to put an order for a Japanese Stand (Rosa). These guys are really helpful. HIRO website http://www.starcraft.co.jp/index301.html I prefer to don't speek about shipment price :( It' will travel alf of the world no ! That's the end of my search ! |
RE: Wood support
Hello All! As Mr. Rusty has stated, I have successful designed and built my answer to the famous japanese stand. It is 2 weeks old now and I can say that it is definately a very useful tool. Rusty has all of the photos that I sent to him and he will hopefully be posting them soon. I will be gearing up to offer the stand to the public soon which each one will be hand made and even the ground tent stakes are powder coated. After being away from the scene for some time I have had alot of ideas and with returning back to pattern, I will be expressing some of my fashion statements in the pattern world for 2007. Stay tune! R/C Kid
P.S. Thanks to Bryan Hebert , Rusty and Mike Hester for the input and ideas! |

Wood Support...
Here are a few photos of Raiko's artistry. The design is very attractive, functional and of course has Raiko's signature flare. The unit is similar to the foreign units AND is different. The unit folds flat for easy transportation, will be available in at least (2) versions from "trick" to "Signature Series" and prices ranging from $150 for the clear finish. I fly alone quite often and look forward to start my models with the wing secured rather than the conventional stabilizer captured "stooges". I will post other photos as available. Here are a few more photos of Raiko Potter's "Z-lique" model stand. The unit folds flat, is adjustable, very solid and will greatly reduce the wear and tear on MY models! Rusty Dose Team Futaba Team YS Performance |
