I used JR 9411SA's on ailerons. 3421SA's would probably work, as well.

I have the Spektrum DS821's in mine and they work fine for aerobatics, I can't vouch for 3D as I use other planes for throwing about.

Regarding the incidence problem:
I've heard of one or two flying with up elevator in the UK (Wing L/E's DOWN by .5-1deg). Check/ measure the stab/ wing incidences carefully. If they're out, you have two-three choices: (in order of preference) 1. Contact the supplier and see if they will replace the kit as it's not right; 2. Adjust the wing incidences by elongating the fuz holes and then reinforcing with ply/ carbon washers; and 3. Fly/ trim as it is, though it'll not be perfectly trimmed for all manoeuvres. The supplier SHOULD be understanding if the kit is proven to be incorrect. Let us know.....................You're not alone! |

You don't need 1400 watts of power. Downsize you prop choice. I think my combo is around 1100ish watts @60A static. It's been a while since I measured it so I'm not 100% sure on those numbers. Torque 4014T-570/15X8 APCE. Good enough to fly Masters. 8 minute flights.

With 1,400W you are talking unlimited verticals for sure. You calc must be showing the 16x10 at about very close to 7,000 RPM. That's a lot of power for the Angel. I think mine is only pulling about 900W WOT.

Don't have too much time so let me write this fast. . .
Flew with a 4s setup because my 5s batteries didn't show up in the mail yet . . . 4s on a 17x10 and an A50-12s and the graph is below. Empty Weight (no battery) 4 lbs 12 ozs Angel + 4s 3300mAh TP 5 lbs 8 ozs Had the same problem regarding elevator trim as shown one or two pages back. Checked the incidence and found stab is more than 1 degree nose down different from wing. I hate building so I always have complaints about the build, and for me I will never again buy an ARF with a pull-pull. Otherwise the quality and the flying characteristics were outstanding. What is the concensus on incidence problems? I hate building so repair of the incidence is out of the question. Should I buy another model and hope for better, or is there something else to be done? Looking back on the thread I see that others reported using up trim with the recommended CG as well so I am beginning to think the incidence issue has been around for awhile, but not heavily discussed. Anyways, I'm curious to see what those with more experience have to say . . .

Do check your incidences carefully though, before taking any action!!!!!!! It's worth doing something though, 'cos they DO fly very well indeed. A new one can be checked "outta the box" by "dry-assembly" in a coupla minutes. Regds, Bill. |

Here are pictures of how I checked my incidence.
1) Set the plane on a table and used a level on the wings to insure I did not change the attitude during testing. 2) Used the stab as my reference line and set the laser pointer to zero (see second picture) 3) Checked the wing incidence against the zero reference line as established by the stab incidence Result = 0.8 degrees down incidence wing versus stab. Is what I did valid? If not what should I do differently? If yes, I guess I'll ask to send my plane back [:o] Thanks for the help! Joe |

Hi Sunny. That won't tell you which one is out, BUT it does tell you that one or other is not correct, and so is valid as a check. Apparently they should be "zero-zero" according to what I've been told, but most Pattern planes are about 1/4 to 1/3 deg wing pos relative to the stab, so gross error is in the order of 1deg (wing l/e down rel to stab).

I missed your post #306 yesterday, but the advice is now well taken ;) By the way a buddy of mine bought an Angel last week as well from the same supplier and has found an indentical problem. Hopefully he'll chime in today as well. I'm going to contact the seller and Fedon Aircraft today and see what they say. It still flies well, but it is a minor annoyance for a ship I have invested over a $1000 into. Is there any chance the incidence differential is intentional? Joe |

Flew 4 packs worth today and then went to the hobby shop and bought an A50-16S. Gonna try 5s with the 15x8 prop on the A50-12L tomorrow and then the A50-16S on 5s with a 17x10 the next day. Gotta love those hobbbies :D

Can someone check their Angel 50 wing tube with a caliper and post the diameter please. My tube broke and I need a new one. Fedon has not answered me you about a new factory one and I don't want to wait on them. I can get a cf tube from other places. Thx

I flew two new 5s5000TP batteries on the A50-12s with a 16x8 APCe. This was soooo much better than the 4s, because the 4s could only get to a CG of about 155mm and weighed in at a low wing load weight of 4.75 lbs. On 5s the CG was at 140mm and weighed 6lbs so she tracked much better even in slightly gusty conditions today. Below is a graph of the Hacker A50-12s with an APCe 16x8 on a TP 5s5000mAh battery: |

Mine was more out than that.
I am suprised that you received a note saying .5 is fine. .5 degrees wing negative compared to the stab. Seems to go against most other pattern designs where the wing is positive up to .5 degree compared to the stab. I would be curious if anyone flying one that does not need any significant elevator trim can confirm that the wing is normally negative compared to the stab (leading edge down) Thanks, Stuart |
