Can anyone give me a measurement from the plywood plate that the A50 16S is mounted to to the front of the thrust washer? I am using the Extreme Flight Torque 4014T-570 and need a reference measurement for mounting it.

ORIGINAL: Rune is there a version that are for glow or is there easy to modify to glow ? could not find it as glow! Sebart normally has a conversion kit for sale. The motor mount box is two pieces. Instead of bolting the front piece on with the glow version you bold the IC motor mount rails. I'd contact your distributor and ask them for it. BK |

I measure 85mm (keep reading!) from the front of the firewall to the front of the thrust washer/spinner back-plate. I removed 10mm (exactly, the Hacker A50 "L" series are 10mm longer then the "S" series) to use a longer can Hacker A50 12L so if you factor that in, the proper length is 75mm. I wouldn't go with a longer motor unless you are prepared to cut the motor box as there is no wiggle room to cheat the cowl further front. If you look at the first page of this thread, you can see just how easy cutting the motor box actually is... Jack |

Joo, you'll like the Katana 30. I did a review on it on another RC website, including a build thread that I still update and post in on a regular basis. It's a great plane for it's size and weight. I've put probably 200+ flights on mine. BK In lack of flying weather I have finally installed wheelspats, and plan to get a pilot in to the cockpit of the Angel. And maybe cover the bottom of the canopy so I don`t see the interior of the fuselage all the time. |

It will be 5S. I have run this setup in the Extreme Flight Extra 300 on 14X8.5 and a 15X8 APCE props. My Extra had plenty of vertical at 6 lbs -5 ozs and was capable of having all the vertical performance and speed needed to fly the AMA Masters Sequence. I am using the Duralite F3A 5350ma packs that I am using on my 10S pattern plane(Beryll).

Do me a favor and report back after your first flight, IMO 5S is not going to be enough to comfortably pull you through large manuevers or maintain strong uplines. I am not familiar with the motor you are using (I looked it up and they have great marketing hype but no specifics) but if it's an outrunner in the 290 - 330 v/rpm range, I just don't see how you will get acceptable performance with 5S. I am curious though as this motor says it will take 80 amps comfortably, perhaps they are onto something... Jack |

I assume the 570 on the E-F description implies a 570 kv motor. IF I remember my what my measurements were correctly. On the 15X8 APC in 40 plus degree F temps it puts out about 1000ish W. Draws about 60 Amps and turns the 15X8 around 7700 to 7800 rpm. All static of course on a fresh charge. I forgot what my measurements were with the 14X8.5. It flew the E-F Extra 300 with authority. Typical flights were safely in the 8 to 9 minutes range. I wish I didn't wreck the Extra. The next thing I was going to try was the new E-F 80 amp controller to save some weight. I was using a CC 85HV in the Extra.
Well, based on the measurement provided, I will need to add about 5/8" of offset to move the motor out to where it needs to be. The Torque X-mount aligns with the mounting holes provided perfectly. |

Jack: are you sure about the kV? I am not too familiar with Hacker because I prefer other motors, but the info I did find about the Hacker A50-16S is the kV is 380 appr... I also found max 55A peak, and 1250Watt peak. Remember; I am not familiar with Hacker!
The motor J Lachowski have is pretty close to mine (Actro 24-4) 570kV. His measurements compared to mine suits too. Just to mention: The Actro is specced to max 2kW, and max 70A. The Actro is also shorter than the Hacker. Although I did add 8mm spacers the cowl came further backwards than it would have done with the recommended Hacker... Although Hacker make nice motors I feel they take less load compared to their weight compared to some other brands. I compare to Actro... and I have no experience with Torque. Interesting :) |

OK, then I understand. The standard Hacker have 14 poles, and your Hacker is the "heli"-version. Just proves how much (little) I know about Hacker :)

Just doing some preliminary fitting, I noticed that the cowl has a very tight fit. Question I have is, does the cowl fit over the canopy front lip, butted against it or underneath? It appears to be over the top of the canopy front lip in the manual. How much of an overlap should there roughly be? With such a tight fit, I am wondering whether there will be any issues putting the canopy on since the cowl is being stretched so much.
As an aside, comparing the Angel S to the Extreme Flight Extra 300 since I am using the same powerplant, the Angel S wing panels/wing tube combined are actually 1.4 ozs lighter. The Angel S wing panels are bigger to boot. |

Having just purchased the Angel S 50 with power set I'd be interested to know what power connectors you guys fit to your batteries. To date I have used Deans Ultra female connectors on all my packs, but with this model I think the current draw may be beyond their limits. The pack I plan to use is the Flightpower EVO25 3700 6S pack.

I hate the Deans Ultra connectors. I have been using with great success the Schulze 4mm connectors which are rated up to 85 amps on my 10S pattern plane setup. You can get them from Tanic. You have to be careful with these connectors when you are connecting two 5S packs in series, but what is great is you don't need an adaptor to have two 5S packs in series. You do have to separate the plastic pieces since they are molded together. You basically have to make your series connection last after everything else is hooked up.

My understanding is Deans Ultra plugs don't have an official rating but routinely are used to 100 Amps. Either way, my entire LiPo collection has them and I've yet to have an issue in 4+ years...
